FYI: I have a pretty good source that told me UMHB and Linfield have agreed to play in 2016 and 2017.

That would be like the series with Wesley a couple of years ago, awesome and terrifying at the same time. Maybe a regular season game is what we need to get over the hump with them.

I feel the same way on our end as well.

If true, we are in for a real treat those 2 years.

Yep.  I really enjoyed the series with Wesley (especially the inaugural home game at The Cruthedral... one of the best football atmospheres I've witnessed, relative to scale).

That video never gets old, Kelly Boggs.  Thanks for sharing.

In other Cru news, it looks like Luke Howard has returned to the program as an assistant coach (to fill the void left by Joe George's retirement).  More at the link:

Luke is another of Cody Fredenburg's "boys".
He is shaping the staff like he wants it to be to take over for his dad.
He is the reason two of the best Asst Coaches that they had left...

What sort of evidence do you have to support this statement?  I'm not saying you're wrong; I'm genuinely curious.  Coach Pete's no spring chicken, so it's not surprising that he may be paving the way for Cody to take over after him.  However, Joe George is up there in years and it could be that he just decided it was time to step aside.  I'm not convinced that Cody had anything to do with it.

Not talking about Joe.  He was done (a few years ago imo).  They had brought in Frank Ditta to take his place, but when Joe wouldn't retire (as Frank had been promised he would), Frank moved on.
No, I am talking about Jeff Shinn and David Branscom.  Two guys who started the program (and my teammates) who gave their ALL for the program as players and coaches.
They saw the writing on the wall....
Harmon is the one that needs to move on.  He will never be the HC.

Thanks for the clarification.  I know very little about the inner workings of the program, despite having several on-campus sources.

So ... I had to remove a response that formerly sat in this spot on this page. Perhaps we could keep the innuendo down to a minimum? Thanks.

I am also curious ljdjr, are you saying that Cody isn't good enough to possibly be the next head coach or just that people like Jeff and David deserved it more due to their time served and accomplishments?

IMO, Jeff and/or David or even Larry (though he is 3rd) should be considered before Cody.

Jeff and David had the respect and knowledge required to be the next HC.

Cody does not (IMO).  He may garner it over many years, but doesn't have the "it" required.

Heck, he had jobs at D1 schools (Miss St, OK St, SFU) and the only guy who would hire him was his dad..... I'm just sayn...

Well my first thought on this if he had multiple jobs at D1 schools than clearly more people than just his dad would hire him.

Any my next question is, you seem to know a lot about the program and said you were teammates with Jeff and David, were you a teammate of Cody? Just trying to get a feel for where you are getting your feelings on Cody.

Don't worry about where I get my feelings.  I just know what I know.

Well I guess I can't argue with that....

No matter what I am pumped that in 58 days the Cru will take the field and in 65 they will be back at Crusader Stadium. I thought all last season that this season could be great, only time will tell but we have a lot of key guys coming back. I am anxious to see how well Belhaven and McMurry do in D3 and very intrigued on what TLU will do to try and get on top of the Texas D3 mountain.

GillCJ1

Yeah, I have had TLU and Hardin-Simmons marked on my calendar for this season.  Both teams gave us a good fight in our last meeting.

Finally some actually news to talk about as the D3football.com Preseason Top 25 is released. Nothing too surprising at the top with it going UWW, Mount Union, Linfield,UMHB and then Wesley. Hardin Simmons and Louisiana College received votes from the ASC and TLU came in at 21 which seemed a little higher than I expected.

Only 53 more days till real football  ;D
