Thanks. I wrote it. :)

Yes, thank you for that. It was a great read and always fun to get some insight after the layoff.

I think you hit the nail on the head with the OLine. For UMHB comparisons, I'd say last year was one of the worst years I can remember for our OLine. We never seemed to block well, and we did not run the ball that well. DT from the DC, as I looked, was recruited out of DC by several DI teams. That tells me he had plenty of talent, but I don't think he had a lot of space. When he did, especially against Sul Ross, he looked very good. For us to be who we need to be, the OLine and DT need to be better.

Does anyone know if or when UMHB will put Southwestern on their schedule? I know that since Southwestern program is only in its third year and I'm sure that UMHB has to plan their games in advance so I wasn't expecting a game right away. It would be nice to have an away game that the drive wouldn't be hours away. Maybe Southwestern could join UMHB in the ASC?

I was just wondering about this the other day.  I'm sure it's only a matter of when, since the 2 programs are so close in proximity.

Who would UMHB replace in their scheduling at least at this stage, with the rumors of a Linfield match in the next season are still out there, I cannot see Southwestern pushing through the veil of teams they want to face, and with the conference growing leaves very little room for an open slot. At this stage there are three open slots, soon if I am not incorrect that will change to two but who knows perhaps the La Crosse slot will open to a Southwestern bid. So possibly a Linfield schedule for 2016 and a new match to replace the second time facing La Crosse, it could be possible who knows

Play each other?   Decent chance.

Move to the ASC?   Unlikely; their profile fits the SCAC better than the ASC.   It would not surprise me, though, to see SW and/or TLU affilliate with the ASC for football if the SCAC can't figure out how to get more of its members playing football (and if the ASC wants more FB members, which would reduce non-conference flexibility even more).   The double-round robin conference schedule that starts next season may indicate the SCAC has given up on that.

Agreed.  The SCAC makes much more sense.

Conference affiliation is about more than just football, and the SCAC suits Southwestern just fine.

Ron is right.

The ASC is re-constituting by adding McMurry and Belhaven. That gives 7 conference games.  The 3 non-conference games can be filled with SCAC teams and the others around the country that you might want to have for the sake of the SOS.

The last 7 weeks of the schedule will be filled for ASC teams.  The last 6 weeks of the SCAC schedule will be filled with double-round robin.  The SCAC schools can cherry pick whom they want to play for the other 4 games in the first four of five weeks of the schedule  with very little travel expense.

Whether UDallas or Centenary want to add football is another debate.

A drive to HSU, ETBU, LC, TLU, and perhaps Trinity is a GREAT drive. My wife surprised me with a trip to ETBU last year. A quaint, picturesque stadium, a trip to ETBU in Marshal is a great place to go.

HSU has a great stadium atmosphere as well. HSU, nuff said.

The trip to TLU last year was amazing and takes you right into BBQ country when taking the 130 around Austin and down through Lockhart.

Trinity also has a wonderful atmosphere. Great pre-gamefestivities.

I've never traveled to LC or Howard Payne for a game, but those would be great trips too.

Yes the link is for the scrimmage. Too bad UMHB does not provide the feed, but hey I'll dig out my rudementary spanish dictionary and struggle through my lack of the language. SO they showed a great shot of the Cruthdral, and faded to, you guessed it, a graphic.. Ugghhhh of the humanity. Was this our JV? because Zane Boles was starting QB

So UMHB had two scrimmages against other teams? Is that legal? Found this in the rulebook:

"17.9.3.1 Preseason Joint Practice, Scrimmage or Exhibition. A member institution may conduct one
preseason joint practice (may include competition), scrimmage or exhibition before the first permissible contest
date against an outside team provided neither team misses class. (Revised: 10/13/06, 4/17/12 effective 8/1/12,
1/17/15 effective 8/1/15)"

Doesn't seem right that they are playing games when no one else is.
