Although i am very much in the Cru camp (inside joke for the Crunatics out there), to me this is basically an early playoff match. TLU was.. mehh...I've always thought HSU would be the real test for this program. How do I see this playing out.. of course. UMHB, hands down. I believe the D line will be brutal, they seem to be ramping things up game to game, As long as Teidrick isn't saddled and hung on to for dear life. (gotta admit last game I thought he was a trapeze with all the holding going on) Either way this is going to be the definitive game for the ASC and these programs to date. I look forward to this game, have been from the start of the season, and yes I am ribbing my friends who graduated from HSU.
I see UMHB 35-21...HSu has developed their program over the last three years and it's beginning to pay off.. not to be number one mind you, but a very good program and they do deserve their ranking. LET THE BATTLE OF THE HARDINS BEGIN..(say that too fast and you could get slapped)

HSU 31 UMHB 27 - in the rain Saturday!!!

We just beat handily a team you barely beat, you gave up 126 to Barrolle who we just stymied, and to top it off, TLU had 14 on you before the half while they didn't cross the 50 before the half on us. I'd say our D is ready to come in and put a stop to your RB, and our D line will be surrounding Garner. Ramos will have to catch some quick outs and get some blocks if he is going to put up the same numbers on us. Granted, we give up some yardage, but our DB's are good. My guess would be 42-21 Cru!  ;)

The old gag of we beat who you beat by more points.  Well in the words of the great Chris Farley, "well la-di freakin da".   Congrats.  You played them 5 weeks after we did.  Did that function in your great calculator.  Come on you know better than that.  You've been around this game long enough to know better than that.   You can play the game on paper, I'll be at the ole 40 acres and Shelton field on Saturday to watch the game played on the turf.

Minni, Welcome back to the board. We haven't heard from a HSU voice in a long while. I'm glad coach Burleson has built a team that makes this game compelling again. One of the former position coaches had been telling me how good they could be, and it seems he was right. With no AQ this year there's no room for error on either side so I'm looking forward to a whale of a game.

For any interested, I'll be hosting a pregame get together at my pizza shop. Since I wear Cru and Cowboy shoes it is for everyone. I'd love for y'all to come by so we can all meet. The address is 4021 S 7th. For the Abilene familiar that's south 7 and Leggett. Down the street from Mez Amis.

minni,

It would seem one aspect of your prediction on Saturday is already in jeopardy. You predicted a HSU victory in the rain. The chances of precipitation during the game Saturday, according to Weather Underground, are as follows: 15% at 1 p.m., 9% at 2 p.m., 8% at 3 p.m. and 8% at 4 p.m.

Kudos for coming on the board and standing up for your Cowboys.

There is a lot ridding on Saturday's game. It is not only for the conference championship, but a playoff bid as well.

Go CRU, leave no doubt!

lest we forget ETBU. They are still undefeated in conference so potentially they could be conference champs. Saturday is supposed to be a great day for football, high in the lower to mid 60s, partly cloudy. a nice autumnal day

Good call, Toby. It would be very presumptive to count chickens before they are hatched.

Push-Up Education delayed to November 7 against Howard Payne.  I'm glad they decided to do that, since a lot of people missed the TLU game due to the weather.

You may be correct, but don't forget, we do live in Texas!!!  If the weatherman in Abilene are as accurate as the weatherman in Waco, I like my chances!!!

I have missed the board, I have spent much of my free time getting my accounting practice going, my wife has a boutique here in Waco, a 5 year old, 1 year old and one on the way.  I miss the harmless banter back and forth.

I am looking forward to  great game on Saturday.  I am looking for a good defensive battle, but I am defensive at heart!!!

Go Cowboys, We Ride We Win!!!

ETBU, the forgotten little brother of the conference!!!  They did it in 2002 with the tri-championship!!! (I may be off on my year, it may have been 2003)

I saw the story of the 400+ yard rushing performance by their back this past weekend.  Impressive to say the least.

There is now another HSU fan on the board. I follow the board regularly but haven't posted in years. Minni good to see you put us back in the game. I didn't want you to be lonely so I thought I would join the conversation.

I think this is the year for HSU to get back on top. They are much more balanced than in years past and I think most well suited to do so. The biggest hurdle for a team that clearly is much more talented, mature and disciplined than in years past is getting over the hump mentally and eliminating those mistakes. UMHB has basically owned us for the last 10 years with a few close matchups sandwiched in there. Some have mentioned that TLU only lost by a TD to us but that UMHB won by 4 TDs. The biggest difference to me in these games is that UMHB knew how to put the game away and made the right plays to do it with a few huge Special Teams plays as well as the 56 yarder to Wimby.

If you look at the TLU-HSU game HS went up 26-14 in the 3rd Quarter and then on the next 3 possesions fumbled, turned it over on downs in TLU redzone, and then threw an INT and then had to score a TD on their last drive to retake the lead.  UMHB was up 28-17 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. UMHB clamped down and made big plays to take over the game. This is what teams who know how to win do.

I think obviously UMHB has great athletes and is coached well but to me there is a difference in teams who know how to win and know how to close out games and those who don't. I think UMHB did just that last Saturday. HSU (in wk 2) won but struggled to put the game out of reach.

I think HSU is learning this year once again what expecting to win and preparing to win looks like. It seems they match up much better than in years past but will need to play a near perfect game and force UMHB into some uncharacteristic mistakes to really have a chance to win. I am confident it will be close but to win they will have to bring a little something extra to the table.

I think this conference is better when there is a legitimate fight for the championship. Heres to hoping for a great game Saturday in Abilene!

Welcome hsucowboy73!  Great to see another Cowboy fan show up.  Hope you and minni stick around, no matter what the result come Saturday.  Also, bolded the second to last sentence for emphasis.  I am in total agreement.  It makes the regular season MUCH more interesting.   :)
