QuoteThe fans are spoiled, and half the time they are on phones or reading a book. I hate to say it, but it's the truth.

It can't be the size of the stadium, right?  I've never seen a Texas high school game but they're loud I understand. Course, those are big stadiums too.
my high school stadium in high school in the 80s was approximately the same size as Crusader Stadium. I think it may have more to do with the historical makeup of the school.figure for the 1st 160 years of the school no one was going for football. to change the vibe in the stadium the younger alumni are going to have to push that change.

Agreed. On both accounts.

Schools with deeply rooted fan bases have been playing for some time. The fans that travel to away games are loud and raucous. Those are the core fans. More grads at games will help, but not many stick around. I don't know. It's unfortunate.
there's not a whole lot to keep grads in the area. my guess would be that game day needs to be a time to reconnect, and I think it will. I know I have friends that drive up from Austin most home games
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Need that rowdy fix?, do like I do with my daughter (junior year) sit in the students section, best seats in the house, it's loud and rowdy and close to the play on one end with a great view of the big video board down field

And a vendor right behind ya.. I used to sit upstairs, but like ya'll mentioned, not as rowdy and loud, just ho hum...

Good Pool C discussion going on in the General Discussion area of the board.  Lots of different views from the up north guys.

umhb2001

On his weekly radio show, Coach Fred simply stated that the varsity locker room, which was cleared out last summer, has not been filled yet. Guys are still competing to get in.  :o I bet this last week's mediocre performance has left some out all the more.

He also stated that Today's practice was the best Tuesday practice they had in a while. Perhaps the fire was rekindled. We shall see.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Not all that surprising.  HSU is deserving of the #1 spot at the moment.  The biggest surprise to me was no mention of Berry College out in GA.  I guess their week 1 loss and fairly poor SOS is hurting them.  Shame.

Berry     45
Chicago 32
Hendrix 20

With the changes coming in the South rankings as M'Ville and Huntingdon play and a few other key games I'm betting Berry makes the rankings if they keep winning. Berry winning might cause some dominoes to fall for others.

45.  I was mistakenly referencing last year's SOS, where they were below 100.  So yeah, the SOS is actually not that bad.

Game Notes for UMHB vs HPU.  Also, for those who are attending, it's Military Appreciation Day and a push-up world record attempt will be happening to help support Educate Haiti.  Should be a great afternoon!

Yeah, some weeks are more active than others.  It's been a while since I got to see some football in decent weather.  It's kinda iffy at this point if the rain will have stopped by game time on Saturday...
