I don't see anything wrong with the article.  Kendall Roberson continues to be beast mode for them, too.  I'm really looking forward to seeing how he performs against the Cru run D.

It does say in big bold letters at the top ASC champions. It's kind of like a store with a sign that says FREE ________* with tiny words at the bottom that clarify what must be done to receive the free product.

Anyways, it doesn't really matter what anyone says. I'd like to see Coach Fred reach out to any and all 2004 players who were in the same situation. Get them in here to preach at these guys. That is what I'd like to hear, have the team hear, and ignore what others are "saying".
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Right, but there's nothing technically wrong with them saying that.  Since win or lose this coming Saturday, they will still be champs (even if they have to share the title).  I imagine any other program would do the same.

Edit - in the end, not really something worth arguing over.  The Cru knows what's on the line this week.  Heck, they have known all season long since there is no AQ.  They stumbled against HSU, but there's little doubt that they need to win this week in order to have a chance at the playoffs.

Yes, but the win needs to leave no doubt in anyone's mind. The Cru needs to play for the full 60 minutes and not let up at all. The last thing ETBU needs to do, is to think that they have a chance of beating The Cru!

Could be in my mind when someone says they travel to take the outright championship, it is a forgone conclusion  here is what I mean "With the win, ETBU is the only undefeated team in the ASC. They will travel to Belton, Texas, on Saturday, November 14, to face Mary Hardin-Baylor to take the outright ASC Championship. They face the Crusaders at 1:00 p.m."

Now it could say to play for the outright...or play for possible co championship, but what I read is. we are undefeated, we have this in the bag. I could be splitting a hair here, but hey, if it fires up people to get out there, push the guys to take the field and completely beast over the opposition then yeah.. i'll do it, I want the Cru to monkeystomp darn it.. monkeystomp them into the floor, then pick them up and set them on the bus home safely. And the suggestion to bring in the previous Cru who faced this before, maybe an idea, a heart to heart, here is what it means kinda thing.

The defense seemed flat in the first half against HPU. I really expected more emotion and fire from the team after the loss at HSU

If UMHB cannot get up for ETBU and come out and play with an intense passion and a sense of urgency from the opening kickoff to until the clock his 00:00, then something is wrong.

The fans also need to show up with some passion and "get into" this game from the beginning and not let up.

I'm no D3 expert but it would seem we are precariously close to being either eliminated from, or left out of, the playoffs. Lose to ETBU and we're sitting at home on Nov. 21. Win and we can only hope for the best and go on the road.

Agreed, Kelly.  I was very unimpressed with the first half.  Fortunately, they looked more alert and hungry in the second half.  I'm thinking we'll need all 4Q of that this week.

Sorry for the double post...

Do we have any ETBU fans on the board?  If not, I hope for a similar situation when HSU beat UMHB.  We saw several new (or at least, newly returned) posters of the Cowboys persuasion join us the week of that game.  So if there are any Tigers fans out there, please join us!  This board is more fun when we have more than one fanbase.

The new Topo 25 from D3 Football is out...I'm still trying to figure out how they placed some of the teams...any suggestions or ideas?

I actually think it looks pretty reasonable. Wesley is my only question mark. Well that and the Dubuque/Wartburg ordering. What are you struggling with?

GillCJ1

I had no doubt UMHB would drop, due to the HSU loss.  Cool to see ETBU in at #23.

Yep. It's not like the voters were going to cluster UMHB, HSU, ETBU, TLU, and even Trinity together at the top of the poll. You had to order them somehow and figure out how to handle the losses. The alternative is to assume that basically half the teams in Texas are top 10 or top 15 teams. That just isn't going to happen all on UMHB's reputation and loss to HSU this year. Much easier to assume that UMHB is having a less dominant year than usual and these teams are good, but not top 10/top 5 material that UMHB usually is.

We will see on the field when the playoffs start. I think you'll get 2 TX teams in the playoffs, we'll see how deep the winner of that game can go. That would tell a lot about the other teams that played the interlocking games.

GillCJ1

This made me wonder when was the last time that TX had 4 teams in the top 25.  Not just ASC, but TX as a whole.

Going back to 2004, week 2, I see:

8    Mary Hardin-Baylor    1-0    397    8
13    Trinity (Texas)    2-0    322    11
14    Hardin-Simmons    1-0    286    15
21    East Texas Baptist    0-1    103    21

Does anyone know if there was a more recent week/year?  I'm not asking people to dive into each week's rankings, but just if you know off the top of your head.  Interesting stuff.

WOW, you are really reading into what is written.  I see nothing wrong with what they posted or how it is written.  Ease up on the implied wording.

Wesley Salisbury is a rivalry game. I do not find the number of times that they have played, but the 2 campuses are on the DelMarVA peninsula,  60 miles apart.
