I know there are minds greater than mine out there.  What is the best scenario for HSU this week and dare I say, making the playoffs??

Here's a deep dive take for you-  best thing Hardin-Simmons can do this week is win.  Not winning would knock them out of the playoffs and in a lot of ways flush that big win over UMHB, which would be unfortunate.  That should pay off with a postseason game.

We'll need to wait and see what the South's regional rankings look like on Wednesday for a more nuanced analysis.   :)

El Capitan Obvious....thanks for your great input!!

Gill, so I took your advice and read the comments and Yeah, I was nearly in tears at some of the comments, it's get's kinda crazy this time of the season huh? So I suppose we have to just wait till this Saturday to see what transpires for Conference and post season play.

Minni I don't think ya'll have any crow to feast on, I don't think you said this was going to be a game clearly in your favor so no crow, plus that game, what a mess and it really hampered Ramos. So just hope the Cowboys beat LC and I will hope the Cru will handle their part. Then lets pow wow about post season.

I always get a kick out of reading the comments section when a new Top 25 is listed.  Sometimes I can almost make out Pat sitting behind his computer breaking pencils in frustration.  ;D

I'm totally used to it at this point. It is generally more fun than frustrating. :)

K. Just most unfortunate this stellar conference has to go through this stage.

minni, I agree with DFWCrufan. Ramos was the difference in the UMHB game and that quagmire in east Texas  knocked the turbos out. The cowboys just need to tcb against LC and all will be right with in HSUworld, and UMHB putting a beat down on ETBU to make sure everyone gets a ring will make that case stronger.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

IF UMHB really hammers ETBU right after ETBU took down HSU, I wonder if that will override the h-to-h in the Pool B selection committee's vote?

I am curious about this weekend. I honestly have trouble seeing ETBU hang w/ UMHB in decent conditions. I think the weather played right into what ETBU needed to pull off a win like they did. It doesn't make the win any less valid because they did what they needed and controlled the game but both HSU & UMHB rely on explosive plays to put opponents away and they do it often. That was neutralized for HSU saturday but for the Cru this weekend I predict a 3 TD win. I could be wrong but I just don't see them being a problem for UMHB after watching the game the week before.
I will say I was shocked at how well Roberson was able to run compared to everyone else. It looked like everyone else was skating yet he was as sure footed as one could hope for in the conditions. He was a beast.

Mr. Yipsi I saw in the Pool C conversation someone say  that they usually honor H-to-H but I was curious about this as well.

Also in another interesting note(might only be interesting to me) former HSU QB Jordan Neal is the OC at Hendrix. If they win this weekend and Centre beats Berry they will get in the playoffs in only their 3rd year and have the potential to set up a matchup with either HSU or UMHB in one of the first 2 rounds. I'm assuming most likely round 2 if they were to face Huntingdon in the 1st Round. His last game on the field was for HSU against UMHB in the 2006 playoffs. Sure would be fun if they could get through to face either of these teams.

umhb2001

I can't imagine the voters downgrading a H2H win at home against a rival in good weather. HSU played in a sloppy mess on the road against a team much like themselves, amped and ready to play. Should UMHB win at home, decisively or not, I think this would be assumed were there a line on the game. Either way, with a win, The Cru are back in Abilene week one.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Unfortunately, the last time I peeked at the forecast it was calling for rain again on Saturday.  You gotta think that favors the Tigers more than the Cru.  We'll see how conditions look closer to game time.  At least the field won't be a mud bowl like it was in Marshall!

Very small chance of rain (~20%) and should be otherwise dry this week barring a 30% chance of rain tomorrow.

Yeah, I should have known the forecast would change.  All the better for us.  Maybe this will help with filling the seats, too.
