This Saturday is going to be a great close game. For people putting a lot of stock on ETBU lose to MHB and HSU lose to them is just foolish. ETBU was better on THAT day. However, HSU is a passing team and conditions made for a running offense. Watching the game I wonder if HSU P/K getting hurt was the difference. ETBU started most of their drives in the second half on HSU side of the field mostly between the 30 and 40. With that said, this game will come down to the performance of HSU front seven and MHB secondary just like the last game. HSU front seven must play great for an HSU victory. Watching both teams this year that battle can go any way. MHB secondary must stop the HSU passing attack. This leans more towards HSU than the Cru. When facing a passing team the CRU secondary is the weakness. MHB does have a great pass rush, but against HSU WRS were open faster than the pass rush could get there in previous meetings. If the Cru secondary can't step up then the QB and WR's must. From what I've seen this year, that is not MHB strong suit. Most on here blames the Cru QB for this, but I've seen MHB WR's drop a lot of balls this year. Trying to be unbias this game is to close to call. However, my gut feeling is going to be HSU by 7.  Now for the few CRUBAbies on here moaning about MHB should be hosting and throwing numbers based on three games here is some numbers back at Yea. Both teams are 9-1. HSU SOS is was 37 in nation at .543 MHB SOS was 119 in nation at .502. They both went 2-1 against regional rank opponets. HSU beat MHB in regular season. Why should MHB host against HSU now? For the ones making plans for the second round of the playoffs for MHB I hope the players don't think like you are this game will go to HSU. Final thought is no one side can say they will dominate and win. This is going to be a great game. ;)

welcome aboard! I think you have summed up hsu hosting well, and I think your analysis is pretty good. I'd say the key for the cru is controlling Ramos. they can't let him get behind them. if they do that game one UMHB wins. you're wrong about UMHBs qb situation. I'd say the biggest thing there is,as it has been the last few years, swapping qbs. the offense will be hitting a good rhythm and they'll run in the other qb and isrupt game flow. I don't get out but its what they do. both qbs are capable,, but I'd rather see Anderson. he just can't lose focus like he did at the end of the last game. You can't take that sack.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Wow, very first post and pulling out the CRUBabies. Personally I knew there was no way we would be hosting HSU since we did lose unless HSU managed to lose a 2nd game and somehow still make the playoffs. I will add one thing though on SOS, do you really think your schedule was that much better? I know what the number are but....guessing UMHB would have handled Southwestern, Trinity, and McMurry in a similar fashion to the way HSU did.

Your absolutely right though if the UMHB secondary can't contain Ramos than it will be a struggle to win.

Should be a great atmosphere as I know a lot of UMHB folks are headed to Abilene, sadly I am not one of them due to work but glued to the live stream for the game.

ASC to TLU and Southwestern...

"On your bellies worms, beg! Beg for your conference spot back TLU! Thought you'd ruin our AQ? Beg I tell you. Beg!"

Who are we kidding, accepting these two back solves a small problem...

i feel for Southwestern, they just got things launched again.

it makes sense for the ASC to take them both.  At least for football. 10 team conference means only finding one non-conf. For teams on an island, that is a huge scheduling simplification.

Anyone know if UMHB film crew will be broadcasting? or just HSU? so far I only see live stats and audio for this game, anyone know? I'd rather hear John and Coach on play by, and usually the synch is off from another broadcast.

I hope there's already an agreement in place and the ASC just didn't want to get in the way of HSU-UMHB in not making it public this week.   Gonna be a huge adjustment for SW if so; TLU has already shown they can compete in the ASC.

Agreed.   I know TLU would have no trouble adjusting, but Southwestern is kind of an unknown.  But hey, they did beat transitional ASC member McMurry this year!  Looks like only 2 of their losses were blowouts (at the hands of TLU and HSU).  D2 Oklahoma Panhandle beat them pretty handily too, but I'm throwing out that one.

At any rate, it would be nice to have another conference member so close.  30 min trip for an away game would be great.

Wow didn't see people so sensitive to a joke. Sorry. Anyhow, I never been a fan of the two qb system either. I believe some players need time in a game to get into their grove. Ramos reminds me of Kirk Rodgers a lot. The guy is a beast. The DE from MHB believe his name is Jackson is also a beast. I love his aggression. These teams (whoever wins) I think is a darkhorse to go to the Stagg.

Ramos is a great athlete.  Dude is fun to watch.  Just wish he was wearing a different purple jersey!   ;)

UMHB has done the 2 QB system almost since its inception, so get used to it.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Gill, yes Ramos is, the last touchdown of the game, I was talking to my friend and said "watch this kid, just as he broke down field, and scored.. I wanted to slap myself...Marcus Wimbey is no slouch at all as a reciever but yes, Ramos has that capability to just break just right. perhaps we could.. ohhh I dunno offer Ramos a...incentive to... oh catch a severe cold...on game day? perhaps.. lol (J/K) Bottomline this is going to be a great game...I hope...for us...

I think UMHB got hurt by the first RR coming out right after UMHB lost to HSU and that the committee never really considered switching the two, even though they probably should have.

No, they shouldn't have. Same records, HSU has a better SOS and the head-to-head win. Cut and dried.

Pat, arguing with a UMHB fan about HSU being better is pointless.  It always an excuse.  Most have been making them since the loss.  Some have given credit to HSU, most have stated complacency, or they just weren't ready.  Hell MU has won 100+ regular season games in a row, nobody crying complacency up there.  Get over your high and mighty "look at me, I'm UMHB" self.  Can't wait to hear the excuses Saturday night after a loss.

Saturday, No excuses allowed.
