HSUDad, let's face it, the slop did not go in your favor, both teams were in it, but I watched that game and it was such a bloody mess that linemen looked like they were dancing, slipping all over the place. The verious attacks HSU use could not be employed and it was just a suc game. It's hard to say but I will, that killed HSU's game I don't think it was especially ETBU that did that. There, I know people may say you play the environment too and overcome and that is true, but it hampered one side far more then the other. How do I say that, the quick lead by ETBU was crushed as the Cowboys caught up, and as the rain kept falling things got flat and stagnant. Your Qb still delivered and passes were like throwing a 5 pound bag of flour, in and out of hands.
So as I "Said to" a few ETBU fans at the crushing of the tigers at the cruthedral when they asked what happend I could only respond.. No Mud.. The cowboys in my opinion are a far better team than ETBU, the slop just did not go your way.

I could not agree more however many do not realize as you said that the mud drastically hurt HSU more than it did ETBU, still hats off to them they found a way to win.  I was only wanting others to not put so much stock in the whole ETBU beat HSU and UMHB crushed ETBU thinking.  Most are saying UMHB has found its passion again and rightfully so , but do those same folks not think HSU is playing with more passion as well after the outright conference champ title  was plucked from them or should I say "muddied" away from them.   It just seems that not many are giving the Cowboys a shot, I personally think this could be the best game of the playoffs not just first round.

I feel these two programs mirror one another in many respects, to me this is the type of game the Cru were meant to play facing a tough and stubborn opposition. HSU has been developing their program bigtime and I see them as not just a contender but a major contender in the ASC from now on. yeah these kids on both sides of the ball are going to come at this with all of their heart, for the Cru this is a place many of them have been before and bring the experience, but for the Cowboys, this is Holy Cr*$ can you believe this we got here and were ready to play, it's gotta be mind spinning exciting for these guys, I can guarantee Friday night is going to be hard to find sleep.  Of course though I do what to see a certain outcome.  ;D But I doubt many truly believe it will be a wide spread game, it will be a great one.

I think UMHB got hurt by the first RR coming out right after UMHB lost to HSU and that the committee never really considered switching the two, even though they probably should have.

No, they shouldn't have. Same records, HSU has a better SOS and the head-to-head win. Cut and dried.

Pat, arguing with a UMHB fan about HSU being better is pointless.  It always an excuse.  Most have been making them since the loss.  Some have given credit to HSU, most have stated complacency, or they just weren't ready.  Hell MU has won 100+ regular season games in a row, nobody crying complacency up there.  Get over your high and mighty "look at me, I'm UMHB" self.  Can't wait to hear the excuses Saturday night after a loss.

Saturday, No excuses allowed.

One exception to the no excuses right? I seem to have seen some about rain lately.

Never once did I make an excuse about the rain or the mud.  Best I remember ETBU played in the same conditions.  They were better, that day at that time.  Play them 9 more times and I bet they don't win.  But they did that day.

All of us didn't make excuses about UMHB losing to HSU either, HSU won fair and square. They earned the right to host the game and we will see who is better that day.

I invite you to go back and read the post, I am quite certain I did not say ALL fans.  I did say most.

No rain in the forecast tomorrow ... a brilliant, crisp fall day with temperature in the mid-40s and winds out of the north at around 20 mph.   Bundle up, ladies and gents!

Nah, just got a huge donation, worked all night and installed a dome over the field.  T-shirts and shorts for everyone.  Haha
Safe travels to the Crunation.

I'm surprise a lot of people are counting HSU out.  Flipping a coin on who wins is just as good as watching game film on picking a winner. This is the best game in the first round hands down.  I think DFWcrufan hit the nail on the head here.  I read the experts putting a lot of stock on HSU lose on ETBU.  Did they watch the game?  Weather effected a lot of what HSU did on offense.  The biggest factor in that game was the lose of k/p of HSU. In those conditions, field postion matters and ETBU started  most of their drives in the second half on HSU side between the 40 and 30.

Well, it's confirmed that I won't be there tomorrow.  Too much to do, and not enough time to do it.  Such is the life of a family man sometimes.

Safe travels to all the people going tomorrow.  Bundle up and enjoy some good playoff football.  Here's to hoping for a favorable result for the Cru and a chance to possibly host next week!

I don't think anyone counts HSU out. Who has said that? I think it will be hotly contested and a grudge match to the end. The wind will hamper throwing, but that is about it. Should be fun.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

I think we are basing this feeling on the d3football.com article "Playoff picks Surprises Disappointments", in which four of the five picked HSU as the disappointment and two specifically mentioned the ETBU loss in their reasoning.  Not complaining about the picks I understand picking UMHB because it will be close but do not use the ETBU loss in the reasoning, it was an apples and oranges game.  Also it was mentioned in one of the predictions that containing garner,  Ramos and Zevala is easier said than done.  Garner has not played in several weeks, including the first meeting with UMHB, which suggests that pick was probably made on UMHBs history, but hey I get that too. If you wanna be the best you gotta  beat the best (twice).

Ahh. I was looking at Triple Take. I think we all agree they are the best two teams in the South. They're just meeting too early.

Not a problem  I just looked at the triple take myself.  I have no problem with those picks. Predicted scores were all close, which means most are thinking a really good game with a successful umhb outcome, no qualms about that. It truly could go either way. Here's to hoping their picks are wrong. Haha.  Definitely enjoy all the readings on the website.  As for meeting too early, win or lose tomorrow I will be rooting for a purple team from Texas the rest of they way.

Just enjoyed some good BBQ down here in Abilene. It's changes a lot here since my time at McMurry in '99 before I transferred to UMHB.

On a more serious note please keep the Temple High kids and parents in your prayers.

4 buses on the way to Bryan for our playoff game were side swiped by a 18 Wheeler. 15 kids with injuries taken to local hospitals. The band, kittens, and cheerleaders were in the bus from what I'm told.

trickytroy32

Prayers for Temple. Hopefully no one was seriously injured. Ready for A great game by two great teams. Stay purple ASC no matter who wins.

Oh man, that's horrible.  Prayers to all involved.
