All MHB fans,

This was a game that you hated to see either team lose.

You are one tough football team.   Every time we meet you!!   This has now turned into a great rivalry.   And you never quit.   I will try to come to Texas to see you next September, but it will scare me again, as it always does!

Congratulations on a great season.

LINFIELD fan production so it's slanted but plenty of Yellow and coach Fred (!).

17:00 minutes long. You'll need to give yourself some relaxing time.

did Ryan make it?
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Looking on the bright side, based on Saturday's starting lineup UMHB will return 8 starters on offense (10 if you count Blake Jackson & Duane Thompson - and I do) and 8 staters on defense (plus DB Chris Brown is expected to play next year, he missed the entire season due to a preseason injury) The CRU's future is so bright we all need to wear shades!

When Linfield comes to Belton next year, Riddle & Company are going to face an improved version of this year's team -- with all the same faces. It should be fun.

Just frustrated at the fact that crazy miscues kill us. The D had just stood up, picked off a pass, and we blow it. I know that center has to be down, but I think he could have been helped by having a hand under his butt so that he didn't have to worry about a good snap. We had been running the heck out of the ball, and with the ball around the 30, or better, it seems some old fashioned I formation pound and grind would have set us up well. Truly disheartening and sad. We shouldn't have lost the game.

That was one heck of a game.... You guys kicked our A$$ in the first quarter.... ... I can't believe we could even keep up with your athletes the whole game..... Man you guys have team speed ... I'll tell ya!. Jeez I think you guys would have knocked out any of the other Q Final teams!!! I really do. You're return guy is SCAREY? And both QBs are studs! .... When 7 was in he just kept running all over the whole field.... JEEEZ!! Plus #5 is a stud running back along with 37. Jeez I wouldn't want to tackle either one... especially #37.... That guy would just bowl you over. And I also want to compliment some of your receivers.... they were small but athletic and fast.... and when they got it in open field they did great! ... One I didn't like was the last tying TD!  :'(

Thanks Bluenote, And on Linfields side, Knecht was dangerous and decisive and (to me) that was the key to the work to catch up. The line obviously trusted him to lead and deliver and he did. And what is with the hands on your recievers? barely anything was getting away, when the ball was in the air, time seemed to slow down.
I believe ya'll will do well vs. St. Thomas and this could very well be your time. If it is, then let's plan on ya'll moving over next season and we'll take that slot. A great season by the guys in Purple Gold N white and they have to know they are a outstanding group of players.
See ya next season at the Cruthedral!

Has there been any explanation why The Cru blew a 21 point lead and end up losing? We can have all the theories we want, but it would be nice to hear something official as to why. If the game was one where we kept trading touchdowns the last second field goal could be easier to swallow, but the way it ended I really feel for the players especially the seniors. The Cru should of won the game and were looking to peak at Salem.

The podcast points to the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that kept a Linfield drive alive, leading to the first touchdown.  I've seen some of that from the Cru, and that is just not necessary. When you haven't beaten Linfield, 0-3 going into the game, 1-1 vs Mount, and 0- what, 4 vs UWW, you can't do that kind of stuff. I hope Coach Fred looks at that tape, sees who it is, and sits him down.

We've also come to experience the late game miscues. Blocked pun in 2004 Stagg, Dropped TD by TE in 2013, Two miscued snaps in this game, and there may be others. Just unfortunate plays at really bad times that come along with the game. Unfortunately, we have had a bunch of these.  The truth is, we've had a history of bad snaps this year, so having two in this game wasn't surprising. The most surprising part to me was not taking some stress off the deep snapper in that last part where we had the ball deep in Linfield territory. Run the I and punch them in the mouth. Just sad.  :'( :-\ :-[ :(

It was the Safety (20) that didn't need to do it...and it was right in front of an official.  It was an easy taunting call.  Not to pile on the young man but later in the second half he was flipping the bird to the Linfield fans in the end zone as the 'Cats moved to 21-28 when he was running off the field after the PAT.  It was a highly emotional game from the jump but that self-discipline can make a mountain of difference at the end.

Wow, I know it doesn't do justice, but as an alum of the school and one who has watched the team from inception, I am sorry.

No need to apologize umhb2001.  Linfield has nothing but mountains of respect for UMHB and the football program.  The way we were treated last year when we visited (like kings) and the lead up  and post game of this past Saturday, 99.9999% of the players and people are wonderful and awesome competitors. One young man losing his cool a few times doesn't change that.

BTW...after he flipped the bird one of his defensive backfield mates almost took his head off on the sideline he was so pissed at him.

I found this in the comments section following a report of the UMHB vs Linfield game on the website of Portland's Oregonian newspaper. I post it here FYI and FWIW:

Nick Daschel | For The Oregonian/OregonLive 2 days ago: @PDXSportFan Didn't get this quote into the story, from Linfield coach Joe Smith:

Very disappointing to learn of the unsportsmanlike behavior. That is so not what UMHB is about.
