Once again MU or UWW wins the stupid trophy. I am so tired of this...

Really don't understand why people whine all the time about this. Would you like them to start the game down 10 or 20 to give everyone a fair chance? What more could you have asked for? UWW and Mount were on the otherside of the bracket all  UMHB had to do was take care of business when it mattered . . . And they didnt. When it mattered they choked. We could always just turn it into a participation trophy and just give everyone one. Would that be better?

I don't want a participation trophy, but having this team win again is still frustrating. I fit doesn't frustrate you that your team doesn't win, what's the point of cheering?

No news on offensive coaching choice yet. Seems this should be coming soon. This decision will play a big part on our ability to be successful. Thankful we have 2 games prior to the Linfield game. That should help us get ready.

As far as hornets' nest goes, I'd say that the holdovers will remember and should, I hope, get the others ready. The crowd is always a question. I wish more would be done to promote games. There is zero tv advertising about games. I wish that would change. Really it just depends on how the fans are feeling and the weather we have.

Belhaven's Hal Mumme is in the mix for the head coaching position at UT San Antonio:

I was going to say that if UTSA wanted 63 year-old former D1 coaches they should give Mike Dubose a call, but he's apparently happy coaching Alabama HS linebackers at his alma mater these days.

Mumme is kind of the football equivalent of Larry Brown, tho Larry seems to have more success at each of his stops.

Coach Mumme took McMurry's talent and did the turnaround in 3 years. (He convinced QB Jake Mullen to come from the baseball team and brought a transfer from NMSU.)

IMHO, if he had stayed at "D3 McMurry" he easily would have become McMurry's winningest coach (not that high of a hill to climb).

He might have finished with 100 career wins at McMurry and possibly competed for a national championship, (if he could have gotten out of the Texas Sub-bracket!)

Ask and ye shall receive.  UMHB announced their new OC today.  His name is Stephen Lee.  He's had lots of success in his various stops, and is familiar with the ASC.  More on his bio at the link:

I cannot wait to see what Stephen Lee is going to do as our OC for the simple reason of him being an outsider to the program. If you look at what he did at WTAMU you would think he only wants to pass but in the paper today he implied he just continued the offense that was already in place and that he would rather be more balanced, Coach Pete added that we are staying a run-pass option team.

For ETBU sake I hope the new coach can keep the momentum going but I assume that will be hard given they lost their star QB to graduation. Coach Scotty must be an impressive guy, he already was one of the youngest coordinators in the nation, he surely has to be close to the top of the youngest head coaches now.

Good things on the coaching carousel - Lots of moves and changes. I am interested to see what Coach Lee will bring, and I do wish Cody and Family all the best outside of the game. Next two years are going to be very interesting, here some questions I have for the ASC. Will TLU continue to develop in a positive direction? Will HSU continue a steady growth or was 2015 just a one off? With Belhaven and McMurry now in the mix how will that shake up the schedules? how will McMurry respond to facing UMHB in 2016?

Game three for UMHB is Linfield, will that help or hurt the Cru should they lose? To lose to a credibly ranked program? What would a win do for them? Just stirring the pot in the off season...

Now let's talk UMHB 2016 - Will we see more Zane Boles in the rotation, and Blake Jackson in the #1 slot? We've seen Brett Buckley in the QB spot and he will be a senior as well as Blake, but you gotta admit a 6'5" QB who will be a sophomore and can give you years to come is not bad.

Tedrick is back as a Senior (as long as they stay healthy) but the DE slot has a TON of young talent there, we are only losing John Isom (to graduation) I think the one area which will need serious work will be DB, only time will tell on that. In LB I think UMHB looks solid and receiving we look good and Duane is still just a Jr. in 2016, with three other freshmen backs to handle the running game. it will be sad to say goodbye to Malcom and Michael to graduation but i believe the run game will still be a potent weapon.

Not to get too far ahead but I think the risk/reward for both teams is huge.  I think the winner will have a great opportunity to be the overall number 1 seed in the 2016 playoffs.  Yeah, that's making a lot of assumptions (undefeated season, other top teams, etc) but the SOS will get a huge boost for the winner.  The loser (if they win out) will get a home playoff game and then back on the road.

And as a Linfield guy, I'm not loving that MHB will have 2 games under their belt before hosting the CATS!
