Off-season and I gotta brag about Coach Bev Bell, the swim coach at McMurry.

She is one awesome lady, 85 years old, and still going strong.

UMHB nabs standout lineman.

First time I've seen a kid leave HS to early enroll at a D3 to get a jump on football.  #WhyD3?

I think the OAC board mentioned UMU has a QB doing the same thing. It makes me a bit sad to be honest. These kids will never get back that last semester of h.s. Senior year of h.s. makes great memories. All that to get a head start on DIII football? I'm all for the kids having a choice, I just wouldn't be happy with my own kid making that choice.

I'm sad d3 would even allow this to happen.

DIII doesn't have anything to say about it. If a kid has met requirements to graduate and wishes to do so, and has been accepted into college, he can go. It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with sports.

They should and could by not allowing them to particpate in sports until their freshman class enters college in the fall.
If it is done for academic reasons, so be it.

Fair enough. That wouldn't bother me, but again, I think this falls more on the parents than the schools. Parents know these kids only get one senior year of h.s. They should be the ones helping kids with these decisions.

Agree 100%. The coaches should understand this as well. enroll early so you can particpate in spring ball, hell, they don't even wear helments. how can that be a big benefit. i get learning the system, etc., but lets keep it in prospective. thats my take and I'm probably wrong.

On the other hand, perhaps this student left high school a semester early because he couldn't get a date for the senior prom -- after all, senior proms are the highlight of one's high school experiences, aren't they?  ::)

I get what y'all are saying, but to each his own I guess. He's doing what works well for him.

Or he gets to come back home to the important senior events.
He's not playing basketball or doing the field events in track.
He can still come home for the prom.
He is walking the stage with his class in May.
Would it surprise anyone if we found out that he already had 6 or 12 hours of dual credit college work?
