Word out of the UMHB Coach's show is that Baylor Mullins will be fine for Saturday. Matt Cody is banged up with an ankle situation. X-rays were negative. Probably won't play Saturday.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Made it back safe and sound from Mississippi.  All I can say is I'm so glad my kid does not play for that coach.   Never punting, consistently putting his defense in bad shape.  It was hard to watch, what a joke.

On to ETBU, as a fan I have been waiting for this one since the quagmire game last year.  IMO the mud and rain and mud (yes I meant to put mud twice) neutralized our team speed last year.  Looking for a different result this week.   The boys know that a playoff birth is riding on this as I am sure ETBU does as well.   Looking for a battle.   I'm a homer yes but I just think our defense will stop them more then their defense will stop us.  I also think their cheap shenanigans will cost them in the end.  Undisciplined teams get undisciplined results.   Hooyah cowboys.

All I can add is this, I respect programs from the top down, show me a coaching staff that have it together and you have a consistent product. Over the last 6 years I've been watching DIII I've seen a consistent UMHB, I've seen HSU get increasingly better, one of my other likes is Southwestern, interesting to see them develop the way they have. Now that the season is drawing to a close we see what the programs are, and it really saddens me a bit to think that once this is all done, once again we have to face HSU (I am very confident they will receive a bid if they win this Saturday) in the first round simply because of geography. I'd love to see both programs face in one or two rounds different programs, but like last season, whoever gets past two rounds is going at Linfield in number three,  that is probably going to be the case again. I don't like that right off the bat Texas, due to geography, loses out.
Providence to HSU this Saturday, UMHB have a safe trip and good game at Belhaven, Southwestern, keep up the march in SCAC,I hope for great games, and no injuries.

In their last full season in D3, Coach Mumme, who is the coach at Bellhaven, coached McMurry. After a lightning delayed game and a close loss to UMHB, he took his players off the field without shaking hands. It was crazy.

Game Notes for the Cru vs. Blazers - http://sidearm.sites.s3.amazonaws.com/cruathletics.com/documents/2016/11/3/Game_Notes_Belhaven_2016.pdf?id=1211

A few notes:
-The Cru put up a Div. III record 15 sacks against Belhaven last season.  They also held the Blazers to -87 yards rushing, which was a new ASC mark.
-As a reminder, Belhaven is not yet a full ASC member, so this game will not count towards the conference standings.
-As this has been a topic of interest this season, Zane Boles is again listed on the 2-Deep at both TE and P.

Last road game of the regular season.  On a more personal note, it will also be my birthday.  A win would be a good present.   :)

OK, I have to ask. I have never seen so many posts regarding a back-up punter and tight end. And so many people worried about losing him, working him into the lineup, etc.  Who is this Zane Boles kid, Chuck Norris's nephew or something?  :)

Zane Boles is a 6'5" sophomore who was a really promising QB prospect. Last season he was behind Blake in the QB rotation and saw some play time as a freshman. Very talented and was courted by some other programs out there. For me, I was looking to see if he would be the next QB since Blake is a senior this year, but at the beginning of the season I heard he was transitioning to TE. That would be a nice slot, height, hands and knowing the schemes would all be plusses, TJ Josey has transitioned nicely to reciever and he was also in the QB rotation at one time. So the failthful were watching to see how things would shake out, Hense wondering what is going on. Plus...his name just sounds like that all American and is just fun to say

No relation to Chuck Norris that I know of, but Mr. Norris has been on campus a couple times lately so I can't say for sure but Zane is/was a big time get for the Cru.

A couple of things lead to us fans being really excited about his potential, first being that he was offered scholarship from D2 and FCS schools and was invited to be a walk on player at Stanford.

But the main thing for me anyway are that he looks like a big time QB as he is a legit 6'5 weighing 215. These are numbers that we don't see very often from our wide receivers let alone our QB.

Mix that with the knowledge that he was good enough to make our varsity squad as the 3rd string QB in his first game and you get a lot of hopeful Cru fans.

We probably are focusing too much on one player but this kid in particular just looks the part of the big time QB we have lacked. With all that said even if he was our backup QB this year, it is my hope the only time we see our backup QB this year is when Blake Jackson has lead us to a comfortable lead.

Nice come from behind win for McMurry against LC. They score 14 points in the 4th to win 34-28.

McMurry's PK Tanner Wright has set an ASC record with his 32nd and 33rd consecutive PATs.

Wright also had 2 FG's a 25 yd as time expired in the first half and a 43 ydin the 1st Q.  He is making the case for All-ASC.

HSU dominated ETBU this afternoon. Offensively , Defensively and special teams. The offense was able to move the ball at will and with the exception of the first score by ETBU, the HSU def shut down the high powered offense.  ETBU did score some late in the game but it was against a soft defense that was giving underneath and running clock. Same with the offense, 2's were in second half and the game slowed down tremendously.  HSU needs to remain focused and handle business next week and see if it's enough to get into the playoffs.  Hooyah Cowboys

UMHB's John Mowery is 65-65 on extra points this season, so Wright is well short of any record. Not sure why the ASC hasn't updated that mark.
