Good running game for the Cru against Belhaven.  Did we ever find out if the final stat was >600 yards rushing?  I know there was some dispute in the figures.

Final stats say 560 rushing yards.

Yeah, that was the stat that was in dispute.  I didn't know if it had been changed, or not.  No big deal in the end, I was just curious.

Something must have been altered from the end of the game and the time stats were released.

At the end of the game Jon Wallin said we got 797 yards of total offense and 608 rushing yards, but stat say 749 total offense and 560 rushing.

Obviously it doesn't matter but it is weird that its off by almost 50 yards. Not to cast blame but I would assume the home team is in charge of calculating stats, is that right?

Then go back thru the play by play and total up the stats that way.  48 yards rushing should be easy to find.  Was a series of down omitted?

Guessing at this point only the coaching staff has examined these stats more than I have but I finally found the problem. Our radio crew must have been using the live stats that Belhaven used because that is were the 608 number came from (and still shows), however in live stats on one play they gave Markeith Miller a 51 yard run instead of the true 3 yards he got which is where the mystery 48 yards came from.

I remember that play. Markeith ran over the equivalent of 51 yards worth of defensive players on his way to a 3 yd gain.   ;)

Anybody want to offer up predictions on ASC player of the year candidates?

I could see the QB from eithe HSU, UMHB or ETBU getting the offensive player of the year award. This one will be a close call that I could see going to any of the 3. I think there has to be some credit given to a QB who wins games so I would definitely be supportive of the award going to Blake Jackson.

Teidrick Smith has to be in the conversation to 3-peat as defensive player of the year but I could also definitely see it going to HSU linebacker Cory Ward who is in the top 5 in the conference for tackles, TFL's and sacks. Very impressive.

Special teams player of the year could easily go to HSU punter Nico Francino or returner Alex Bell who has tied Jessie Ramos single season school record for kickoff returns for TD's. It's hard to keep up with other school's special teams players so I'm sure there are many more out there.

I'm sure I'm missing plenty of well deserving players. Anyone else care to share their opinion?

Enjoy the final week of regular season!  I can't believe we are almost to the playoffs already...

Oh, and predictions?  Uh... Jackson (UMHB), Ward (HSU), and Bell (HSU).  No numbers/stats to back it up.  I could definitely see some other names in the conversation (Smith, Adams, Mullins from the Cru D, Wilkerson from the Cru Special Teams) and Smith (ETBU QB).

McMurry's Jordan Washington has 5 INT's including 3 Pick-sixes.

HSUDAD

nothing is given, while all indications point to HSU beating McMurry.  I will be the voice of cowboy reason.  Do not sleep on McMurry, they have won three of their last four and are playing confident right now, their four losses are to UMHB ETBU (obviously no shame in losing to these two great teams), an opening game loss to an improving every year team in southwestern, and a loss to sul Ross.  Also having lived in a town with a cross town rivalry game (abilene high vs abilene cooper) ANYTHING can happen in these games, ANYTHING!!!!!
Now with that being said I believe our coaches to be the very best and coach B will not allow our boys to look past this one.  I just want to prepare our fans that if it's close early don't be surprised and it may even turn out to be closer than most think.  I hope not, I hope we kill em early and are able to rest some starters for what for sure should be a rematch next week at the Cruthedral.

HSUDAD...yes it is always good to be grounded.. but I will say, leaning on what I see from HSU, I am comfortable with HSU leaving with a W.

HSUDAD and DFWCruFan,

My bet is HSU wins the game, but McM has improved. Remeber that this is a team that has an all underclassman o line who held up well in the first half against UMHB and then were dominated in the 2nd half. Those underclassmen now have a whole season and are giving the offense a little more time and space. The game might not be as cut and dry as it would seem.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Makes me wonder if Coach Burleson is talking about the 2010 HSU team that was essentially in the same position this years team is in. That team was 8-1, with the only loss being a close 14 point loss to UMHB, were ranked #7 in the nation (5th in the South regional rankings). All they needed to do was beat LC, a better team than McM is this year, and they would have their rematch with the Cru. Well they didn't losing 44-42 and didn't get the invite to the playoffs.

All that said, unless HSU goes into the game sleep walking they should easily beat McMurry and pack their bags for a return trip to Belton.

DFWCrufan

Orrrr... they could lose this game to MCMurry, giving them a 2 loss record... messing up the post season bracket...but I won't speak evil....

Interesting note the seniors graduating from this team this year (so far) have lost four games ...in their four years...
