Linfield and HSU.  :o

They are a lot better than Linfield gives them credit for.  ???

Fact...... Midnight oil is burning at the catdome this week.   8-)
We give credit where credit is due most of the time...  ;)

I havent posted much on the football boards, but I wanted to get a feel for those that saw both UMHB games vs Linfield and HSU as to whom you would rather play in the second round (if we beat Redlands of course). Ill shutup and look forward to the responses.

When UMHB played Linfield, they outgained them by 200 yds.  When they played HSU, they gave up 70 more yds than they gained. History tells us that when one of these teams wins in the regular season, the post season rematch does not go well for them. Nobody is excited to see an angry Sam Riddle come to town, but this HSU team seems to be a much tougher match up for the CRU than the 'Cats are.

Short answer - neither.  :)

Longer answer - whichever team brings the most fans.  In this case, it would probably be HSU purely due to proximity.  I love the playoff game atmosphere when the opposing team has its own contingent cheering them on.  Sure, it's nice when the fans are loud and on your side, but we don't see too many games where the opposing stands are full.  HSU just gives the best chance of that happening.

Both put my BP into stroke alert mode so for my health neither, as an alumnus of UMHB and HSU i feel I have to throw my guns up and yell Go Cowboys!
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

HSU's stream may be better than Linfield's, but that's not saying a lot.  Last week I streamed some of the HSU-McM game and the camera was pointed most of the time at the 50 yard line.  Game play often moved off the sreen and stayed there until someone remembered to move the camera.

Does anyone have the link to video streaming of the Linfield HSU game on Saturday?

Well, All-ASC team and awards are in.  I won't list them all (I'm sure they'd like the clicks), so here's the link - http://www.ascsports.org/news/2016/11/17/FB_1117160526.aspx

UMHB is well represented:

Offensive Player of the Year: Blake Jackson, Mary Hardin-Baylor
Co-Defensive Player of the Year: Teidrick Smith, Mary Hardin-Baylor
Offensive Lineman of the Year: Broderick Jenkins, Mary Hardin-Baylor

Congrats on a great year, fellas.  Keep it going in the playoffs.

Edit - I should probably mention that UMHB leads the conference with 16 selections.  HSU is second with 13.

New post for new news:

Game Notes for the Cru vs. Bulldogs - http://sidearm.sites.s3.amazonaws.com/cruathletics.com/documents/2016/11/17/Game_Notes_NCAA_1st_Round_2016.pdf?id=1234

A few things of interest:
-This is the 5th meeting between the 2 schools.  UMHB is 5-0 all-time.  The last meeting came at the beginning of the 2014 season which the Cru won 36-0.
-UMHB is 12-2 in 1st round playoff games and has won the last 12 in a row.
-UMHB and Mount Union are the only 2 D-III programs to have won at least 1 game in each of the last 12 playoffs.
-Over the 19-year history of Cru football, the team has now scored 50 or more points 75 times (or in 32% of the game's the team has played all-time). UMHB is 75-0 in those contests. In contrast, the Cru has only allowed 50 or more points to an opponent twice over that same span (and guess who those 2 teams are?  HSU and Linfield).

Another thing of interest:

LINFIELD has only given up over 60 points in its 61 consecutive winning seasons once.
Guess who that was to....
