PC, like us you have an opinion.  As you know over the years I can wind things up a bit.  I should have expanded my post.  I was at that game, What a venue !! The host staff treated us great.  One of my favorite moments was a pre game tribute to the youth football teams attending.  There was a mix of fans on our side, most were fun to banter with, and I for one have no room to talk.  The only guy I got fired up on was a dude that yelled  "drag his a$$ off the field" when one of our boys went down.  We came to an immediate understanding on why he was wrong in saying that and he vacated the area.  ( Im being polite ).  There you have it

Over the years I have come to respect and appreciate Pat Coleman's and Keith McMillan's insights on D3 sports - and, when shared, on life. Thanks to Pat and company for providing a place for aficionados of D3 competition to interact.

FYI: The early weather forecast for kickoff on Saturday at Crusader Stadium calls for temperatures in the upper 60s, partly cloudy with the wind from the south at 10 mph.

Congrats the Linfield. They outplayed HSU and made the necessary adjustments. They shut down our offense and picked Apart the defense over the middle down field. HSU has made great progress over the last 4 years going 4-6, 6-4,9-2 and 9-2. They need to get the next level and win playoff gAmes.
Looking forward to the next 4 years as my oldest graduates and the next one moves into his soph year.
Hoo yah Cowboys!v

HSU Cowboys were good hosts. Thanks for the football weather.

I still cannot fathom that 15 yards rushing stat. Jaquan Hemphill is what any team wants for a running back. He looked dangerous every touch...yet.

I can see how the HSU passing game was frustrating. The passes seemed to be there, but so was a defender.

The d3 staff picked that game to be the way it was played.

You Cowboys were the recipient of the first no turnover / penalty game LINFIELD put together all year.

Wow, I guess that is second only to getting coal in your stocking in HSU's letter to Santa Claus...    ;)

Looking forward to this round two, I would imagine motivation wise that Linfield will have a slight edge in that, wanting to avenge a earlier match up and move onto round three. The Cru, will have to wipe September off the schedule and think this game, this time, the previous didn't happen and remember 2015 round three.

Match up, I think the Cru will be more successful on the ground, Linfield will be formidable in the air, not that both don't bring the other phase, but it's the strengths as I see them. So I'll be bringing the fam down from the north and be there. I was there for our loss, I was there, right there, for the Whitewater loss...(complete heartbreak) on second thought, I've been there for two important losses, and was at HSU for the loss.. perhaps I should stay away....not to be too superstitious but...

I read the write up of the Redlands, game, I wouldn't really call it a hang on, We hung on to Linfield last season, and Whitewater in 2013. Redlands was a sleepy first half, and complete domination in the second but either way, it was still a good showing especially by a very underrated Redlands.

Congratulations LInfield and good luck the rest of the way.

Just some thoughts on Saturdays loss
Their defensive front did a great job of stopping the run, but also in containing our QB, he makes a living off of extending plays by escaping pressure and finding receivers.   I wish we would have realized the officials were "letting them play". Only three flags the entire game two intentional groundings and a holding and I would still bet a dollar they only threw those because it occurred on each opposing sideline and could not avoid the wrath of the coaches on the obvious penalty.  I'm not blaming the letting them play mentality I would much rather have that than a hanky fest.   However LInfield was way more aggressive in the secondary five ten and fifteen yards down field and by the time our receivers got free the qb was sacked or grossly over and under threw the bell.  Our secondary was very loose, would of liked to see us tighten things up because they were not going to call anything.
I know it probably sounds like I'm whining.   Let me just rienterate, LInfield was better than us yesterday.   Congrats and good luck.

Going forward for the cowboys, special thanks to the seniors, you have influenced my son in ways you will never know which means volumes to this old man. Hopefully soon we will get over the playoff hump and you seniors will know that you played a major role in it.

I'm excited for the future, my son will be a junior, I think we are a pretty young team overall with the exception of a few key senior positions such as QB, ILB and a couple of DBs. Those will be difficult to replace, but after seeing the way we replaced our d line this year which was a huge loss from the monsters we had the year before, I have no doubt that our coaches will have willing and able bodies to fill in.   Our Devo team finished with their best record ever which shows we have some younger talent as well.

In closing, so glad we are cowboys, winning it all is difficult to do, and good luck to all still in it.

Those who haven't been following D3 football for an extended period of time are probably not aware that the author was a standout at running back for Trinity during its time in the national spotlight ('99-'02).     His 5764 all-purpose yards are still a school record, as are as his totals for rushing yardage and carries.
