For anyone interested, the local ESPN radio just finished an interview with Coach Pete.

No local ESPN radio interviewing Wheaton's coach (ESPN 1000 in Chicago).  They are too busy with Chicago Bears coverage.

Err... I mean any other Chicago professional team.

A few things of note:
-This is the first meeting between the 2 schools (at least, in football... the schools played one another in the MBB National Championship's 1st round in 2010).
-This is also the first time the Cru will play someone from the CCIW (as well as their first opponent from the state of Illinois).
-The Cru is 29-14 all-time in the playoffs.  The Thunder is 14-9.
-Coach Pete has a record of 193-38 in his 19 seasons at UMHB.  Coach Swider is 181-46 in his 21 seasons at Wheaton.

Both teams appear to be pretty balanced offensively and feature great defenses.  Looking forward to this one!

Oh believe we know the feeling, I have to listen to more Baylor and Dallas Cowboy coverage than I would like. Would be more interested in the Chicago Bears myself, how you like Jerrell Freeman?

Freeman was one of the better offseason moves the Bears made.  Unfortunately what limited talent existed on the team has been decimated by injury.

At least the Bears DO have a win over the division-leading Lions! ;)

(I get to say 'division-leading Lions' so rarely that I just HAD to post that. ;D  I've been in SE Michigan for well over 45 years now, and thus by default a Lions fan - they have stunk up the place most of that time. :()

The Lions are long removed from their glory days of Doak Walker and Bobby Layne.

Yeah.  Since their glory days in the 50s, they've had Alex Karras, Billy Sims, arguably the most exciting running back ever in Barry Sanders (EVERY touch could be a five-yard loss or a TD!), Calvin (Megatron) Johnson, and not a whole heckuva lot else.  I've tried several times to just forget them (especially in the Matt Millen years), but then they do something to lure me back in.

I know we're all going a little OT here, but wanted to chime in on something.  I graduated from Georgia Tech the same year that Megatron started his college career.  He was a heck of a talent even back then.  I may not be a Lions fan, but I was definitely rooting him on as he made waves in the NFL.

OT?  You want to talk OT?   OK, I'm starting an online MSCS program at Georgia Tech in the spring.   Now THAT'S OT!!    :)

Hope everyone attending brings their wet-weather gear (and hope that UMHB allows umbrellas in the stadium; some don't).   Looks like it will be off-and-on rain throughout the game.

Saturday 12/03 90% / 0.69 in
Isolated thunderstorms. Showers. Cooler. Temperatures steady around 50. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 90 percent

I've heard great things about this program.  I considered applying for it, too.  In fact, I have a friend who is in the midst of it right now (he works for Golfweek Magazine).  Let me know how it goes!

As for the weather, I think we've all come to accept it will be a wet one.  I've seen people with umbrellas in the past, but I have also heard that they are banned.  Whatever the case, some people use them.  Before we moved over to the Cruthedral, they allowed umbrellas at Tiger Field.  In fact, I recall using one during the storm that hit in our playoff game against McMurry some years back.  I will be bringing an umbrella with me (along with a poncho or rain-resistant jacket) just to cover all my bases.

There is some funny wording on the website but it looks like you can't bring an open umbrella in the stadium...but you can use one in the stadium as long as you are courteous of those around you. With this weather doubtful it will matter much as you probably won't be surrounded by too many people to be courteous off.

Have you tried a hard hat, either standard which I have used with great success or full brim like the mailmen use here in IL.
Just make sure it has no vents.
