Wheaton came to play. The Thunder did a good job of protecting the QB for most of the game.

Wheaton did a great job of protecting the QB because they were holding on almost every play. It's too bad that The Cru had to play both Wheaton as well as the officials. This official's crew was by far the worst I've seen this year. I'm glad that they called the targeting on #3 Chase Greenlee. If they had blown that call as well I'm not sure what the Cru fans would of done.

You can call a hold on most any offensive play, regardless of who is playing.

I was not expecting a monkey stomp over Wheaton!  How good was HSU? They played UMHB closer than anyone!

We sometimes see sore losers on these boards, but you've extended it to sore winners. :o :(

Kelly, I agree with your assessment of getting the injured guys back...it will help big time to have Josey's downfield threat available.

Just FYI, Schmidt actually played quite a bit today.  Actually blew up a receiver in the end zone that helped separate the ball from him in the 4th quarter.

Thanks, cover2, for the info/correction. I didn't see Hunter listed on the 2-deep. I was watching, but pretty busy most of the time. I think I know the play you referenced. It was in the 4th quarter, in the end zone and the Wheaton player stayed down for a while after the hit.

So while basking...er...enjoying a Cru victory Ceegar with a nice glass of adult approved beverage I was thinking about the Wheaton game and was still amazed how backwards UMHB played it. Defense was scoring, which put Defense on the field more and more, because of their scorring. Offense was getting cold on the sidelines, and more than likely the call was coming down, Do not uncover that ball...period. If we have to blow through downs and give it away, fine, do not uncover that ball. The Redlands game comes to mind, if you consider in the first half,  the Cru fumbled and lost it twice causing points. Now lay that onto this game...Yep disastrous...Wheaton would be all over anything like that and would capitalize mightily
So if I put my feeble but still functioning mind in that of the staff of the Cru, a 1 point win was acceptable, as long as the W goes our way. I would bet they saw how quick Wheaton was, the LB were really some of the best I have seen this season, they could read and adjust so fast that I would be betting Coach and the staff were do not uncover, and if we give it away, we give it to them on our terms.

A very good opponent...Next...UMU...take the purple home Cru....

Just announced:  game time Saturday is 3:30 CT.   Looks like I'll be going to see Mount Union play for the second time in my life, and I sincerely hope for a different outcome this year.

Congratulations to the Crusaders for a great win yesterday. Really impressed with the defense and overall team speed. I won't be at all surprised to see this MHB team hoist the trophy in a couple weeks. UMU brings the tradition but defense wins championships and this Cru team has the goods to win it all. The Purple Raiders are not scoring 70 on this team and a track meet is probably what it will take to win.

I agree, but Mt isn't going to stop this MHB team so a low scoring game strongly favors the Cru while a high scoring game also favors the Cru, but not by as much IMO
