Congratulations to the Crusaders for a great win yesterday. Really impressed with the defense and overall team speed. I won't be at all surprised to see this MHB team hoist the trophy in a couple weeks. UMU brings the tradition but defense wins championships and this Cru team has the goods to win it all. The Purple Raiders are not scoring 70 on this team and a track meet is probably what it will take to win.
i like the Cru's chances in a track meet
Mount Union has had a very strong Track and Field program, historically.

I always wondered why UMHB did not offer track and field.

they have had a few people compete individually in the past, but i don't know why they've never added a program
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Whew.  Weekends are so busy this time of the year.  I can only imagine how much crazier it will be if/when we add another kid to the mix.

So, a few of my amateur thoughts on the Wheaton game:

-Their defense is the real deal.  Yes, the Cru offense was not explosive as it usually is.  Part of that was being off the field so much during the long drives by the Wheaton O (and a blocked punt in the end zone for a TD, and a pick 6).  Still, credit where credit is due.  Their coaches had a good game plan.  Particularly the rush D which is exactly what I was worried about coming into the game.  It's easy to see why it's considered one of the best in all of d3 this year.
-The targeting penalty was unfortunate for the Thunder, but I've seen it happen many times over the course of the season.  In fact, there was another case of it happening in the Redlands first round game.  I assume it's difficult to control your adrenaline in a game like this, but gotta play smarter.
-Reggie Wilson continues to impress for the Cru in the playoffs.  A blocked punt and extra point try to go along with his 15 tackles against Wheaton.  I can't wait to see what he does next year.
-Very good turnout for the visitors side/Wheaton fans.  Especially considering the less-than-ideal weather conditions.  I still maintain that games are always much more fun when the opposing team has a vocal contingent of fans.

Very impressed with the Wheaton program.  They gave the Cru quite a fight and represented their conference well.

Next up is Mount with a trip to Salem on the line.  I hear it's their first game ever in the state of Texas.  No rain in the forecast, so no excuse for people to sit at home.  Let's fill out the Cruthedral with purple (yes, both teams).

Question for the group about a play during the UMHB-Wheaton game.

After Wheaton scored in the 3rd quarter to make it 17-9, their PAT was blocked and then recovered by a Wheaton player who then tried to run it into the endzone. My question, is that allowed or should it have been a dead ball once Wheaton recovered the blocked PAT?

if a blocked kick is recovered behind the line of scrimmage--either team can advance it.....

Hey ya'll I have a quick question I heard this mentioned on the podcast, is it correct that these two games are going to be broadcast via an ESPN channel? If so I don't know if Jon and Coach are still doing a radio play by but in any case, it might be a good thing to write them a note and let them know about the great freaking job they did this season bringing the color, the images and the overall broadcast for UMHB and their visiting teams.
I think they stepped it up a notch, Jon and Coach as always bring what I think is a good and balanced commentary of the game, bringing information about our opposition and coach does a great job spotting the little things and making them known. So if you could take the time, and if your from another program somewhere, take the time to tell your SIDs and game commentators, and the production staff just how much you appreciate how they bring the game that much more to life for the viewer. If things go wrong they always hear it, so let them know you appreciate them when things are right.

Jon and Coach do a great job and even though there will be a ESPN crew for the TV broadcast they will be doing their radio broadcast, however it will be on a new radio station (106.3 FM) due to the normal station playing the Temple game.

Just to plug Jon some more, tomorrow night at 6:30 he and Coach Pete will do their weekly radio station on 1400 AM, you can listen online and even tweet in some questions if you would like.
