A secret behind the Cru?... http://www.d3football.com/playoffs/2016/brielle-umhb-cru-secret-weapon

This is a great story. I caught one of Blake Jackson's tweets when they first met but I am glad we got to learn so much more of it.

Yep, Keith will be there. He's not landing at DFW until late morning, however, so pray for swiftly flowing traffic.

Go out the south exit of DFW. Get thru downtown FtWorth to I-35 and he should be okay. 2 Hours and 15 mins.

I don't know if there is still construction going on between Waco and Temple but if so Keith may want to find my post from earlier this season about the shortcut we found last year from Waco to Belton.

there is definitely construction, but there is construction on 317 as well. 35s is the best option. if he hits a backup before Bruceville Eddy then hop off and go to 317. other wise like Rlph said 2:15 maybe 2:30/45 with traffic

FYI and FWIW: The most major slow down issues when traveling to Belton via I35 southbound from Dallas/Fort Worth usually occur between Waco and Temple (lots of construction). To avoid any potential problems one option is to take Spring Valley Road, in Hewitt (just south of Waco), to Moody then to Belton.

Spring Valley has a marked exit off of 35. Spring Valley will eventually end/T into TX 107/8th Street in Moody. Take a right onto 107/8th and in a few short blocks you will come to a traffic light. Turn left onto TX 317. 317 will take you into Belton and will become Main Street. It will take you to the front of campus. Take a right onto MLK (UMHB's brand new Performing Arts Center is being constructed on the corner of Main and MLK) and it will take you to Crusader Stadium.

I routinely use this route. If there is any issue on I35 between Waco and Temple, due to the construction, it usually results in significant delays.

I bet you John McClane (Die Hard) could get Keith there in time, one way or another.

Game Notes for the Cru vs. Purple Raiders - http://sidearm.sites.s3.amazonaws.com/cruathletics.com/documents/2016/12/8/Game_Notes_NCAA_4th_Round_2016.pdf?id=1242

A few things of note:
-This is the 3rd meeting between the 2 programs.  All 3 match-ups have come in the D-III semifinals.
-The record in this series stands at 1-1.  The Cru won the inaugural meeting in 2004, while the Raiders returned the favor in 2012.
-This will be the first time Mount Union has played in Belton...
-and also their first game ever in the state of Texas.
-I've mentioned this before, but the Cru and Purple Raiders are the only 2 programs to win at least 1 playoff game in every season since 2004.
-Mount Union is in the semifinals for the 22nd consecutive season and have advanced to the Stagg Bowl for the past 12 years in a row.  The last team to stop them?  UMHB.
-The Cru has a 30-14 all-time playoff record.  The Purple Raiders are 94-15.

I won't list it here, but check out the season statistics for both teams.  You can find it at the above link and also listed in other places here on the boards.  Buckle your seats, everyone.  This is shaping up to be a heck of a game.

Assuming I land on time at 11:30, four hours to kickoff should be enough to get me there, even with a bit of traffic. I'm from D.C., so it'll take a lot for me to get annoyed by traffic; I live it. Appreciate all the pointers. My friend Waze will ride shotgun.

Been battling a bad back for the past week. That's the bigger obstacle, IMO.

Haven't been to Belton since the new stadium opened. Looking forward to it.
