Last night was a huge community wide celebration of The CRU's national championship. It was a come and go affair. I guesstimate around 1,500 in attendance. It was a great time:http://kdhnews.com/sports/college/umhb/bell-county-celebrates-crusaders-national-championship/article_81a78bdc-e9c4-11e6-bbe4-0766887c51dc.html

If I may - the picture that accompanies the link Kelly shared shows my son giving QB Blake Jackson a high five.  He had a great time!

Linfield alum qb is now qb coach at Miss. State. Has a lot to work with in Nick Fitzgerald. We'll see.
Not really a bad dog. Just misunderstood!

Brett is actually coming back to Miss State.  He worked there for 3 or 4 years as an offensive quality control coach. Great to see him moving up the ranks!

I've been browsing the ASC schedules for the 2017 season. It looks like about half of the conference has schedules out- UMHB, McMurry, Sul Ross, Howard Payne, & TLU.

Any word on when the others will be out?

With the 10-team conference for football, the schedule should be pretty easy to deduce, except for the non-conference games.

McMurry goes to Okie Panhandle State on 08/31/2017 to open the season.

Congrats, CRU!

For a team known for O your D was not so bad!   Enjoy this for 364.

I'd be willing to bet that we are better known for defense. Our D has always been great. The questions has usually been whether or not our O could put enough on the board or what we would do if we fell behind.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

The UMHB Stadium would work just fine.
If they're in it, one of those 10,000 seat high school stadiums would work.

I was told there was a contingent from Texas in Salem this weekend as they consider, or already have, bidding. I thought someone said it might have been a group tied to UMHB, but that their stadium is absolutely not in consideration. I asked why considering how nice it is... and the comment back was the fact you can't get to Belton all that easily. Seems the bidders understand that about the only thing that will get a bid out of Salem may very well be making sure you don't make it hard to get to - since that is about the only thing challenging about Salem (for most people).

A challenge to get to doesn't really make sense to me.  DFW, Austin, Waco, and Killeen all have airports to fly in and out of.  Austin is right off of the toll road that rarely has much traffic to even speak of.  It shouldn't be difficult to get to.

A whole lot easier to get to Belton than it is to get to Salem.

While getting to Belton is not the arduous trek some have suggested, given the geography of D3 I would suggest that getting to Salem is easier for most schools.

Kelly Boggs

For sure, it is closer to the vast majority of DIII schools.

True, the "who" is pretty easy to deduce. I was more curious about the "when" and, in the case of new additions TLU and Southwestern, the "where".
