My take on UMHB vs Belhaven = Yawn.
its what i expected, but i liked that we got to see a lot of new faces getting reps. I'm glad Robinson got the reps he did and looked good doing it. I was glad to see KJ see a hole and run through it for positive yards. I was glad to see that #3 on the RB  depth chart can put up some yards and has some speed. I was thrilled to see KJ let the rb have the ball. I was glad to see that robinson can fling the ball with accuracy 50+ down field and i was glad to see TJ lay out for that one in the 1st qtr ( just wish he had maintained control out the back as he was sliding)
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

TLU has continued to improve throughout the course of the season.  Really was in position to win that game yesterday vs. HSU.  Defense came up with key stops again and offense was able to establish the run game pretty effectively against a good defensive front.  I feel that had TLU kept that last drive alive and not turn the ball over, based on the way they were driving the ball, they may have very well punched it in for the win.  Was just a good play by HSU defender to pick that ball off.    TLU was expected to be down this year, but they are playing well above the expectations of many.  They have a very good shot at finishing 7-3, but it is one game at a time.  Howard Payne next and then two tough games vs. very improved Sul Ross and Southwestern.  A good final push will make what is already a better than expected season, even better.

ETBU 68 LC 35.

And that was without their starting QB. Guess today was a glimpse of what's to come for the next 2 years.

Glad they did well, but let's temper the emotion. ETBU hasn't seen a defense like they will in three weeks.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Whats the story about Dru Smith? Was he pulled or inured?

All I can tell you is he is supposed to be back in the starting lineup next Saturday against Sul Ross.

Any comments on the face mask call that extended the eventual game winning touchdown? I watched the TLU replay and its hard to tell what happened. Obviously a lot of time left either way but that would have been a big time stop.

I miss the 5 yard face mask call, I understand the safety component but to me not all face mask calls are equal. Not sure if that would have mattered in this case but sometimes the defender seems to graze the facemask and gets the same call as grabbing on and throwing to the crowd, doesn't seem right since it results in an automatic first down.

I agree with you. Also, I have to admit that I was unable to watch as closely as normal on Saturday. CRIII CR3 looked good, for the most part, and it looks to me like they are slowly bringing him along. I was pleasantly surprised to see him first off the bench and in the 1st quarter no less. If he continues to progress, I can see him being a major factor sooner rather than later.

The CRU needs to get everyone healthy over the next three weeks. UMHB will need all hands on deck come November 18!

Temple paper said UMHB WR Isaiah Townes is leaving the program and is no longer on the roster.  Anybody have any insight as to why?!?!

I had heard rumors about Townes departure. It would seem the TDT report confirms it. http://www.tdtnews.com/sports/article_ff282056-b86a-11e7-be1e-b7b303c8c8d9.html

There could be any number of factors that contributed to Townes' decision: Personal, family related, etc... Who knows? There is no doubt that Townes is very talented and had a bright future with The CRU. He has to do what he believes is best for his life right now. However, with that said, UMHB is blessed with an abundance of talent at WR. I wish Townes well and all the best. UMHB will be fine.

I like the fact that Coach Fredenburg indicated that decision time on a QB is soon to come. I will wait with great anticipation with who the QB going forward will be. I have my preference which is based only on what I have observed during the games. The coaches watch these young men day in and day out - on the field, in the locker room and beyond. I have no doubt they will choose who they believe will give The CRU the best opportunity to be successful.

Road trip to Abilene this Saturday. Go CRU!

A little more information on the situation... Dru had been banged up in the TLU game due to his aggressive QB style he was taught when he was younger to never avoid a collision, not to mention after the game slicing his foot open using a DEFECTIVE tape cutter that broke and sent the blade into his foot (OUCH) causing him to receive 6 stitches to close up the cut.

He missed a couple of days practice trying to rehab to be ready for the LC game and when he came back out on Wednesday, he had been demoted to 3rd team QB and told he would not be starting the LC game.  He was told he would probably get into the game anyways on Saturday and would be the starting QB again this week vs. SRU.

Unfortunately, due to a few bad choices and the coach wanting to get the backup QB on the field anyways, (so he wouldn't leave ETBU), looks like Dru might not be seeing the field much, if at all, for the rest of the season.  Too bad since he was destroying the conference, stat wise, as he is still 700 passing yards ahead of his closest competitor even after sitting out for a game.  He was also ranked as #2 QB in the country for D3 QBs in passing yards per game.  He is yet to play an entire game since his coach said he would not let him get any records this year if the games were blowouts. Obviously, a belief that changed last weekend for the backup.

Having been a coach, I know that posts like this are not good, but having been a human being a lot longer, I know that sometimes putting the TRUTH out there is all a guy can do.  Hopefully, the coach sees his methods of trying to tear a young man down isn't helping his program now or for the future.

when the backup breaks 2 school records and played better in the prior game...sometimes ya get pulled. I don't think the coach is doing anything egregious.

week 9 of the season and UMHB has no QB and just lost their #2 receiver, sounds like the #1 team to me
