Imagine that you had a team where you beat a top 10 team with your top wide receiver taking snaps.

the offense looked great during that stretch

I'm struggling to remember a saying about defense and championships. Perhaps someone can remind me. :)

who's your #1 team Pat?  A great defense no doubt, but against Linfield's offense...c'mon

My No. 1 spot is on the record from the podcast and posts as being Mount Union, but I'm not sarcastically dismissive of UMHB's team or their claim on the top spot, either. That's what prompted me to respond to your post.

If team X was onto their 2nd QB of the season and thinking of switching to QB3, while at the same time losing WR2, would that not raise some eyebrows?

UMHB has a tremendous defense and they will not lose a game until the semi's or stagg bowl, but there are a bunch of questions

Pat Coleman

No doubt, but another team in purple suits up multiple quarterbacks and does OK.

That's the beauty of the D3 playoffs, we'll find out who is number 1 on the field. Yes UMHB has some question marks. There is still time to get them cleared up.

If Mount Union wants to chant, "We're #1," after the next win, it won't bother me.  ;D

Team X's WR2 averaged a grand total of 35 yards a game so I think we will be alright in that department.

So we don't have a bunch of questions, we have one that could be big.

Either way I am curious why a Mount Union fan cares so much about a #1 ranking that doesn't really mean anything. I love the poll but come playoff selection time it won't matter and if we truly make it back to the semi's or Stagg Bowl it will be because QB1, 2, 3 or 4 helped us get there on top of an amazing defense.

when the backup breaks 2 school records and played better in the prior game...sometimes ya get pulled. I don't think the coach is doing anything egregious.

To start with you are incorrect on all fronts.  I think he actually broke at least 3 records on Saturday vs LC, but then again, everyone sets records against their defense.  That's the team Dru set all the records against last year.  TDs, Yards, Pass attempts

But then again, if you have been following along, this year's team is NOT supposed to be about individual stats.  That's words right out of the mouth of the head coach.  Or, like I said at least until this past Saturday.

I guess who played better vs TLU can go either way.  The stats are comparable, but since the head coach let Dru play 3 quarters vs Brian's 1. I guess he knows best huh? You can go take another look at the TLU game recap then we can have a discussion about it IF you want to identify yourself since you know who I am. I can talk football ALL DAY LONG!

I would argue that the WR UMHB lost wasn't actually #2 but probably #3 or #4.  Wilkerson is by far the more dangerous threat after Josey.  Not a huge dropoff with the departure.

T.J. Josey, Bryce Wilkerson, DeNarian Thomas and Jonel Reed, et al. - UMHB has plenty of talent at WR. Reed, a sophomore, had 7 receptions for 132 yards against TLU. He did not play against Southwestern or Hardin Simmons due to an injury. Reed has played very well this year. Josey, Wilkerson, and Thomas are proven commodities.

Townes, who was a transfer, is a very talented WR and made some great catches this season, but it is a bit of a misnomer to call him "WR2."

The UMHB "questions" for me are consistent offensive line play and the QB position. I have confidence these will be addressed soon and very soon.

My eyebrows aren't raised.

Just now trying to play catch up, but what happened to Isaiah Townes? UMHB fans can you give me some insight?

I communicated with Isaiah. I did not ask permission to disclose what he shared with me and I will respect his privacy. Suffice it to say that I have the utmost respect and admiration for the young man.
