Mount also has a few players in a state of Ding. I bet every team still playing has some of their men dinged up. After all these games, seems natural.
But we all go on. Good luck against UST.

The thing that concerns me the most about UST is they seem to lack a killer instinct against quality opponents.

This sums up UST's season in a nutshell.

A little less "backyard football" stuff by UST, please.  Perra's completely ill advised pick to start the 2nd half, plus a fumbled reverse.  I expect we'll see Glenn call a more traditional game, or at least pick his spots to try something up his sleeve.

Will be very interested to see how UST's front 7 match up against UHMB.  We all know UHMB will be fast, but this front 7 is very quick and athletic.  I know UST will play sound gap football, and I expect Coach K to be continue to be aggressive with his fronts.

I expect this game will come down to field position.  In that sense, Perra has been an excellent punter and special teams weapon for UST.

Outside of the 2-point conversions I think they played a pretty conventional game by Caruso's standards. The turnovers on Berry's side of the field plus Perra's pick was inexcusable. There's some obscure rule on punts where there is no risk if the kicking team touches it first and you pick it up and try something crazy and fumble it, and there was a situation in the 4th quarter I believe where a Berry player touched it first, and UST tried a desperate lateral with 5 Berry players around the ball, and Berry fell on it and thought they recovered a fumble. It was actually a heads up play by UST, because if it worked and he was able to get enough umph into his attempt at the lateral, UST would have walked in for 6.

UST left a lot on the table, but I think it was from fundamental errors. Fumbles, namely.

Berry only had one drive I thought was inexcusable, but their receivers made some incredible plays.

The take on Mount Union is also speed, speed and more speed. Also all over the field. Hey,  a Purple Raider vs Crusaders game could be too fast to see. I'd still like to see it or, at least, watch a slowed down video. Ah but we both have a couple more games each. Let's wait and see what happens.
Pomaika'i (good luck in Hawaiian) and mult noroc (good luck in Romanian) to both teams.

Will be interested to see his next move, what are your thoughts? Sad, happy, mixture?

Just got off the phone with Hal Mumme - He confirmed that he's stepping down from head coaching role @BelhavenFB
Mumme said he's searching for a QB or OC job now, but doesn't know where he'll end up yet.
During his 4 yrs at Belhaven, he transitioned the program under the NCAA.

It was time for separation.

I have a Hawaiian friend in McMinnville, who happened to play for Linfield some years back, that taught me a few Hawaiian words. I throw some out every now and then so people think I'm smarter than I am. Also have a translate app and a couple Hawaiian apps.
Had a cat, now dead, named Kalakoa'ikinani. They helped me with that.
So I had fun chatting with you. Almost like I knew what I was doing.
How about a simple "take care"? Works for me!

Haha.

RE: Speed

I think UST has tried to solve this problem after getting exposed on defense by MUC in 2015 by getting a bit smaller and a lot faster, but there's only so much speed to go around in the great white north.

This is always interesting when the teams from corn country take on teams from the south. More than a few times we've seen a gigantic O-line Big 10 team get their doors blown off by a faster SEC opponent, then on the other hand, I've heard ESPN go on for weeks before the FCS championship about Sam Houston State's team speed only to watch them get throttled by the plodding and methodical pace of NDSU.

I don't think UST will be served well by changing their defensive approach, but it will lead to some big plays for UMHB from time-to-time. If they can get home on the QB early a few times and get a few 3-and-outs they should be okay, but you can't play man on a talented receiver all game and not expect for him to win a few battles.

Offensively, if they can't run the ball a little bit, they'll be in trouble. I hope Trettel is ready to go by Saturday, because we need someone who can make things happen between the tackles.

My speed comment was not related to what I think the outcome of the game will be. I was just relaying what is the one word that characterizes UMHB football and it is speed. More times than not, The CRU's speed translates into wins. However, on a rare few occasions, it has not. Saturday we will see.

Of course, UMHB can be quite physical as well, but it seems in the match-up with St. Thomas, the Tommies would appear to have the edge on the physicality side of things. The boys from Minnesota are BIG.

There is no doubt the play of UMHB's freshman QB, CR3, will be key.
