Good for you. You're the only one to remind us that Jesus is the reaso we celebrate the season. Helps keep everything in perspective.

I do NOT think our play calling was very good, not just this year, but last year as well. To only win a game 14-12 and 10-7 last year, to win against St. Thomas with one offensive TD, against Brockport with two short field TD's, and the inability to not continually run the ball between the tackles is inexplicable. The offensive coordinator has NOT shown and ability to be creative, and this is something we have to break away from. I would love to see a new system, a new Offensive coordinator, and more chances taken. Bryce should have had more touches. Marquis Duncan should have had a chance to touch the ball, and more bubble screens, draws, shots across the middle, shots to the TE's, should have been tried. It's like Coach Lee gave up once TJ went down. If this were a D1 program, I wouldn't be surprised if he would be let go. Coach Fred has stated as such that he does not really look at the offense, so we need to have someone who is going to take this and really shine. He (Coach Lee) has not shown that he can do this.

As Kelly has stated, this game was a microcosm of our season. Our offense was seen for what it really has been all year, and they were really picked apart this game.

As an outsider, I agree 100%.  The Cru defense is elite... best in the country.  If UMHB can somehow find an offensive system which works (putting up 20 points against aforementioned defenses), they would be very tough to beat.  Is this an issue of playcalling by OC - or are the parameters with which he's working the problem (ie. is the play-calling handcuffed)?  It looked like The Cru got too used to jumping out to leads in the playoffs and then taking the air out of the ball to shorten the game.  Its really hard for an offense to gear up to score points after essentially being a clock-killing mechanism previously.

Coach Fred has mentioned having very little to do with the Offensive scheme in seasons past. Under Steven Lee, who had very good credentials coming from his previous school, the thought was that he would open up the play calling and do some dynamic things.  The talent is there, but it seems that he hasn't been aggressive. I don't know if he is being held back by Coach Fred or what. I don't have that insight.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

I don't know the answer to that, either.  I will say, however, the play-calling was more... explosive?  dynamic? when Coach Fred's son Cody was calling the shots on offense.  That being said, I don't begrudge him leaving the profession to spend more time with his family (not even sure what he does for a living these days).  There has been a noticeable drop off in the past 2 seasons, though.  It's not the talent.  That much I agree on.  It will be interesting to see what changes - if any - are made for 2018 and going forward.

According to http://reportingtexas.com/farewell-to-first-downs-coach-chooses-family-over-football/ written in March 2016, as well as a LinkedIn profile (https://www.linkedin.com/in/cody-fredenburg-358a0b118/) Cody is a project manager at a utility construction company, Denbow.

It starts with the offensive line. We should be able to recruit and train some quality Olineman. We've had this in the past. Has the OLine coach changed? Have we not placed an importance on recruiting OLine? I don't know. But we have the success and pedigree to recruit quality talent. That is where our program is. Not to diminish what we accomplished, any other team besides one would love to be where we are, but we aren't any other team anymore.

Thanks, Ron.

No doubt about the OLine play.  We'll have another big shoe to fill next season with Corbin graduating.

Well, fall is over. The temperature in Amarillo is 32 degrees.

One hundred twenty miles to the south, the temperature in Lubbock is 62 degrees.

Here it comes!

And Corbin wasn't great. He struggled quite a bit this postseason. There were some years where we could forcibly ram the run down team's throats. I haven't seen that in a while.

I realize we won't hear from the 2005 2015 HSU grad any more but his personal attacks are just dumb.  I have met a few posters from the boards and they represent their school with nothing but class and integrity.  I have talked with Wildcatt11 from Linfield at a few different games and took in a game at UMHB, HSU and ETBU and met up Kelly all three times.  Hell, the guy even bought me a breakfast burrito the first time we met.  Hopefully I get the chance to meet some more posters in the future.

Happy Holidays from Jack Parkman (and I know it may come as a shock, but I am not the real Jack Parkman that played for the Indians and White Sox)

That's okay - I'm not actually the 17th Earl of Oxford.

I think I know the bee in HSUgrad's Stetson.
I've been to Abilene and seen the facilities.
