I think I know the bee in HSUgrad's Stetson.
I've been to Abilene and seen the facilities.
there's a lot of stuff going on at HSU right now. lot of change school wide. could be a hive in his stetson not just one bee.

What's changing at HSU?
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Thanks, Ron.

No doubt about the OLine play.  We'll have another big shoe to fill next season with Corbin graduating.

And Corbin wasn't great. He struggled quite a bit this postseason. There were some years where we could forcibly ram the run down team's throats. I haven't seen that in a while.

He's a new (and first-time) father.  Safe to say his attention and priorities were being spread thin.  I give him a pass for the playoffs.

they've had administrative changes, including a new President. Programs cut due to budget concerns, faculty cuts by way of offering early retirement and not filling those positions. a lot of things.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Perhaps that had something to do with it. Still, we haven't had a dominant line for several years. Either we aren't getting the same talent, which is hard to believe, or we aren't coaching them up. The latter seems more probable than the former.

As an HSU alum and current staff member, I'm not aware of any academic programs that have been cut. We've had some administrative changes sure but that's part of life in higher education, and there certainly weren't any salacious reasons for any of our recent administrative changes. I would also add that we are coming off our largest freshmen class since 2008, so we are trending upward.
As for facilities, while we definitely have some room for improvement, I wouldn't characterize any of our athletic facilities as bottom tier in the ASC. We might not play in McLane-world but it wasn't that long ago that even UMHB was playing in a high school stadium.
No sour grapes from me though I love what UMHB has done for our conference and the success of the CRU benefits all of us, particularly HSU. And at the end of the day, facilities don't win championships, players and coaches do. Anybody who uses our lack of facilities as an excuse for our inability to get out of the first round isn't watching the games.

It is frustrating to watch these state championship games and see more aggressive offensive attacks than what UMHB showed. More creative, more down field shots, and more aggressive play calling. There has to be an answer.

CowboyAlum261... some positive inside info. Good.
Cowboys certainly aren't awed when they visit McMinnville. We just know how to polish what we've got like a '55 Chevy.

Watching Aledo and College Station. Again, both of these offenses are more creative than UMHB.

These QB's are rolling out, moving the offensive line to give the QB time against a good Dline.

WR's are running double moves.

I'm sure some of these things are happening more often than not for The Cru, but not from what I saw at the championship game. Run up the middle...run up the middle...sack... Crazy...

These HS games have been very entertaining, especially last nights Manvel/Highland Park game.  The level of talent on the field in that game was amazing.

Former TLU DB Justus Parker (who as a walk-on was recently in the news for getting a surprise scholly presented by one Rob Gronkowski) had a short kick return and a "former D3 player" callout at the end of today's bowl game between Texas Tech and South Florida.   He led the Red Raiders with 4 interceptions and 4 fumbles forced (returning one for TD) this season.

Kind of fun reading the exchanges between you and Hooyah Cowboys. What planet is that guy from? Wow! I guess he doesn't know who he's messing with. Well, he's young. Maybe he'll grow up some day. Anyway, enough of that stuff.?))
Just want to congratulate the Cru on a fine year. About 247 (is that right) would love to have that record. 14-1 sure beats the national average. Have a great holiday season and best to y'all next year.
(Maybe Mount lost last year because they had to play in "that" stadium). Hmmmmm!

Wow I missed the snowball fight... But I have to have a chance to at least throw one myself... Cowboy, if HSU can get beyond the charity bracket and win ONE.. just ONE win and get to a game two then maybe you would have some credibility to make some sort of claim otherwise your "smack talk" is just embarrassing a good program. And yeah there was a year UMHB went in via that bracket and we all know how that went down.. on your field.. in your stadium... And that closes the case. Green is not a good color of your envy

QB got the starting job mid-season, only lost to UMHB. With another year under the fairly young O Line/ D Line 's belt, ETBU is going to hang with teams like UMHB at the line of scrimmage. Shoot, aside from special teams play - ETBU pretty much outplayed UMHB this year. The gap is closing...

Ehhhh lets not get too carried away now. ETBU will be dangerous next year, BUT they have never fielded a strong defense. If you're going to point towards the UMHB game, the UMHB offense was rough all year. Lets take a look to the HSU game where y'all gave up 80 points and averaged giving up 31 a game in the season.

Until an actual defense is installed I just can't see "the gap closing"

The defense actually came on a little bit at the end of the year. Seriously, the ETBU QB is head and shoulders above every other QB in this conference (at least from what i saw this past year). That in itself is helps the defense tremendously. Def wouldn't have allowed 80(!) pts with the sustained drives he is capable of seemingly commanding on his own. Also, starting RB is back (was injured early in the season), to get that running game back to decent. Playing UMHB better than anyone else besides MU is evidence enough of that gap closing.

Wishing everyone a big Happy New Year and the best for 2018. You don't just have a good team, you have a great program. I know you'll be back contending for a national championship next December. You'll keep your outstanding defense, tune up your offense and be ready to go. Not sure I look forward to seeing Mount play you guys again. But, to. Be the best, you have to play the best. I probably shouldn't say this but I can see a Stagg Bowl between UMU and UMHB.
Hey, it'll be in Texas. Darn, home field advantage for the Cru. Oh well!

MUC57, you da man! Have a great New Year's celebration and a prosperous 2018!

UMU is the class of D3. UMHB has a lot of work to do to get back to the Stagg. It would be great to lock horns with the Raiders again. Is it August yet?
