I am new to D3 Football as my son is a freshman this year and I just found this sight a few days ago.  Nice to chat and see what is going on around the conference.

Welcome to the boards! Glad to have a Southwestern fan on board!

Are there many Pirate fans on board? All I see are mostly UMHB and HSU.

Ok Yeah SU, you have a semi- allied fan here, I have said since the inception of the SW program that they could and would do great things and I am glad they are in the ASC where they belong. What do I see for the Pirates this season? top 3 easy...  I am firmly a Cru fan but I also like SU. Last season they didn't roll over verse the Cru and HSU, they bring their game and after seeing their first outing, this a solid team. Like I had mentioned before, they aren't flashy, but solid and I foresee a good season in 2018.

I'll get behind the Battle for the Republic tag if you will join the Battle for the Hardin Family Fortune bowl haha
Battle for the hardin family fortune is hard because the hardin family gave generously to education.  it would have to be something like the Hardin family cup and include HSU, UMHB, McM, and HPU @ the D3 level because they gave to all of those schools. But i'd get behind something like that.
To my knowledge, McMurry did not receive any Hardin family money.

What became Midwestern State (Hardin Junior College) in Wichita Falls did, plus Simmons College, Abilene Christian College, Baylor Female College, Howard Payne College and the Buckner orphanage in Dallas were the primary benrficiaries of the Hardin philanthropy.

My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Several interesting transfers for UMHB, one being from Warner Robbins, GA. You LLWS spectators out there know this was a special team. He's a big DL player.

Another, a DB from Chicago, is not on the 2Deep this week.

Of course, the two big ones are the track runner from A&M, Aaron Simms, and Luke Poorman.

I'm excited to see this team play. There are so many unknowns.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Another explosive player y'all got is Miller from ETBU. Kid is something else!
Hard work may not always result in success, but it will never result in regret!!

Well we will see it put together on the field tomorrow, there are some questions to be filled out like, who will be the dominate QB.

HSU lists Marc Reed as the starting QB in the game notes. I'm excited to see what he can do with the full time job, he was stellar as the wildcat option last year. I just really hope we are able to get settled on a starter and stick with him, last year's QB musical chairs was frustrating.

Either way, this year's HSU offense looks to have a different twist if Reed indeed stays the starter, he has wheels unlike anybody we've seen behind center in a long time.

Would be kind of funny twist if for the first time UMHB relies more on the passing game by their QB and HSU relies more on the running game by their QB.

UMHB fans

Just to wish y'all good luck on the season. A good team, like yours, in a good program, like yours, should do fine. Maybe we'll meet in the Stagg Bowl. Shorter trip for you guys this year.
Go Crusaders! Go Raiders! And those of you that have seen my posts before know that now I say Go Everybody! Gotta love Dlll football and d3football.com! Thanks Pat. ☠🏈

This HSU v Trinity game could be interesting. I'm thinking a possible upset is in the works, but we'll see.

Trinity looked pretty stout last week, so I agree this should be a tough test for HSU. But I'd much prefer a dog fight in week 1 than beating Wayland/Texas College/Misc. NAIA by 75 points again.

I watched Trinity last week and I think HSU will have a clear talent advantage, but it will be close enough that execution is going to be key.

Speed difference all over the field is noticeable.
