Thought TLU hung tough.  UMHB has superior size and speed, but TLU battled and the score was not indicative of the game.  It was not a domination.  UMHB didn't play their best and when you can beat a good team while not being at your best, that's actually a good thing.  UMHB and HSU should be a slobber-knocker.  TLU has the ability to knock off HSU.  If they do, I think they have a chance to make the playoffs and possibly face UMHB again like in 2014.  What a great game that was in spite of the rain delay.  TLU got after them that year in the playoffs and dang near knocked them off after getting destroyed in the regular season.

oooh dont you forget you gotta beat ETBU too

Coolrey I have to somewhat agree, I was expecting to see Southwestern be the big spoiler but it could very well be TLU, (seems like Southwestern is not going to be that team that shakes the tree) TLU is not a bad team, like I had mentioned they gave the ground game fits with their constant shifting on D, and their pass defense was pretty strong.
Now watching HSU I think, just using my guestimation TLU will have a very hard time stopping HSU, their run/pass game is very strong.
As for ETBU, this Saturday will be the test for both

HSU checking in here.  Thoughts thus far.

Hooper coming in at QB has opened up the offense tremendously.  I only wish we had a few more games before facing ETBU and UMHB back to back.  He has only had a game and half now, but I like what I have seen so far.  Our defense has looked great with the only blemish coming in the form of our coverage, we have been giving up too many 10 to 15 yard routes that unfortunately turn into 50 yard touchdowns sometimes.  All suggestions point to ETBU having a good passing game so this concerns me going into this week.  Special teams is a bit of a concern especially our kickoff coverage, too many kicks out of bounds and too many decent returns giving up field position not to mention missed PAT/FGs that will come back to bite us in a game like ETBU.  On the bright side we finally had a fast start to a game and never looked back, most will point to it being HPU, but I have seen them for four years now and I like what their coach is doing and think they are headed in the right direction.  Looking forward to this weekend and what ETBU brings to the table, should be a great game.....

That's my two cents so far, I don't post much but have been a board stalker for several years now haha.

So, an insert foot moment here, in all reality, after watching the game again, Jase was actually pretty strong in the air, sure there were some over and short passes but he hit TJ and Jonel perfectly on many plays as well as other receivers, so I think I'll chalk this up to Cruoverexuberance disease.

I agree with you 100%. ETBU scares me especially the WR Johnson. Our secondary needs to shore up some things, giving up over 200 yards passing to HPU is rough. On the plus side, not knocking ETBU they don't really have a run game so I'm hoping we can focus in on Baca and his arm. This one has the make to be like the one in Marshall last year. Glad to see you back.

Haha well ETBU can go toe-to-toe with you on special teams' woes. In the Platteville game, we had 3 punts blocked in our own territory (one for a TD) and a missed XP (have had at least one each game). Really frustrating and we probably win that game if we don't make those mistakes. Hopefully those get tightened up for saturday.

Baca/Johnson have to be one of the most talented QB/WR duos in the D3 nation. But you are very right in that there is absolutely no run game for ETBU. I'm really hoping we abandon the run sooner than in past games where we run it around 30 times at a 2 yd/carry rate. Or at least get more creative with it.

HSU on the other hand looks like a juggernaut on the ground, which is very scary. Our run defense is pretty average -- I'm guessing some points will be put up this weekend.

Coach Fred actually addressed that in his monday interview for the Telegram and basically said he wished they had subbed more earlier since they were up 30 at the half and his best guess was that they were just running the regular offense trying to work some of the problems out. I have watched the play on the replay and it was never not going to be a TD. The receiver ran up field and all of the defenders ran past him the other way. If it was soccer match, the receiver was going 1 v 1 with the goalie just barely on side. Defense blew the coverage and in the video it was obvious where that play was going. So while it might not be a good look, TLU's d deserves part of the credit for that one.

My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Or, and I've seen other teams in similar situations do this so I'm not crazy, you take a knee and shake hands.

haha now it doesnt really matter, i dont think "running up the score" is a big deal in general -- but down 30 with 14 sec i dont think the defense is really expecting a pass

TLU was still trying to score. No reason UMHB shouldn't keep playing too.
