Congrats to UMHB on your win today. I wish you guys would just go away. I have a feeling you're not going to. Hopefully we'll see you in Texas. Wait a minute! Aren't you from Texas? Oh well. 😃
I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

Chuck Norris was in attendance at the HSU vs UMHB game today. This marks the second time Chuck has witnessed The CRU defeat the Cowboys. He was also at the 2016 game.

Congratulations UMHB for the first round win today.  I still don't understand why the committee thought this was a first round matchup.

Berry is excited to face the next challenge in the bracket.  The committee also saw fit to match up the SAA with two huge second round games with Centre headed to MU. I guess payment for a good season for the conference.

So where is the best steak in the area.

umhbalum

Not sure about steak but I highly recommend Millers BBQ

Best steakhouse may be Longhorn Steakhouse. Shoepfs BBQ has really good steak also to go along with fabulous jalapeno cheese sausage, quail, cheesy potatoes, and sides. Miller's has great brisket, cornbread and honey butter, Mama Miller's dessert, and in-house, award-winning coffee. You can't go wrong with any of these places.

How well does the Berry faithful travel?

HSU used Hammonds in several ways today. He had so many touches. Crazy. This will help us in the coming weeks, I believe. Berry has a player that saw lots of touches running and receiving. We'll have to shut him down to stop the Berry attack.

Looking at St. John's, two things stand out to me: 1. They had 0 sacks and gave up 1 sack. 2. They threw 0 interceptions.

This stands out to me for a couple of reasons. If Martin Luther can get a sack, I think UMHB is good for 2.5. We were all over HSU when they went back to throw today. That may be a point of interest for our DLine. Secondly, the defense of Martin Luther was unable to get any interceptions. I think our secondary is capable of getting a couple of INTs if St. John's is going to throw that much.

St. John's rushing attack may give the Cru fits. They did not do a great job of stopping the run today in the first half. We will have to do better in the following weeks.

Looks like The Johnnies have some size on both the OLine and the Dline. That should make for some great matchups should we both make it.

Interesting point to note, UMHB has appeared in the playoffs 17 times in 20 years. St. John's has appeared 25 times in 102 years.

Kind of a misleading stats considering that playoffs didn't exist for most of that 102 years.

A couple of facts: HSU has not won a playoff game in 18 years. HSU is 0-5 against UMHB in the playoffs.

The Cowboys gave The CRU a good shot, but once UMHB got the lead, the Wrecking CRU D kept HSU in check. I've not looked at the stats, but I am sure HSU racked up some numbers on the ground. However the Cowboys never really threatened after their touchdown drive in the first half.

Hammonds is a tough, shifty runner.
i did look at the stats and they had 168 on the ground. they won the stats, except for the one that mattered.
I wasn't surprised that they chose to lean on the d and were happy to rush. looked like jase dinged his arm a bit early in the 1st qt, and i thought some of the short passes he threw showed a loss in arm strength.. The bomb to sims looked good, but i've seen him throw that same ball into the wind at TLU. Guess we'll see

It's his shoulder AC joint it happened a few games ago, painful but no damage.

The sack took place with one of the backup QBs.  Erdmann is very accurate - the last interception he threw was on October 13th.  It will be a tremendous matchup.

Is Jase Hammack ok?  That was quite a shot he took in the 1st half.

Hope these two teams continue to take care of business.

St. John's game notes said how many times UMHB has appeared in the playoffs? My point is you drew a false comparison.

Hammack is good. He played the second half and really did a good job. I don't think his strength was altered much. Some rest this week will do him some good.

It's his shoulder AC joint it happened a few games ago, painful but no damage.

Once you sprain your AC joint, you are more susceptible to it happening again.  Like an ankle sprain.

Get that treatment this week.
