Man I did a spit take reading this! Seems that way, but I still have to say UMU is a tier 1 program. Yeah one bracket seems a bit stiffer but I have to say that is not Mounts problem, let's see programs pick up the pace, quit with the "Lets win our conference and hope we move on" attitude and start working to become tier 1 programs themselves.

I agree that their path is often easier, but they back it up by bringing home the Walnut & Bronze.  Can't fault them for it.  It's not like they're shying away from stiffer playoff competition.

A tradition unrivaled...

Thanks. Mount Union doesn't pick their competition. They play whoever is there.

Come on, you know Mount Union has a black book of secrets and skeletons in the closet on all of those who are on the selection committee.  That is how they always get the easiest path to the Natty, as well as almost always play at home. ;)

Right. One team. Mount Union carries the load.  And they arrive at the Stagg Bowl in pristine condition. Their first round opponent gives them a pedicure, their second round opponent gives them a manicure, their third round opponent dabs them on the forehead with a warm wash cloth, and the semi-final opponent serves them chocolate covered strawberries. Meanwhile, on the other side of the bracket, teams are basically brutalizing each other, probably losing an average of one to three starters along the way.  It's amazing it's as balanced in terms of results as it is.

Look at UW-W - Ya'll had a few transitional years right I mean it looked like Oshkosh was taking over the drivers seat, but look at them now! driving the game! UW-W could have easily said, "well lets take a few years and hope to pull off a conference and then maybe we can move on" Oh hell no, it was We expect to win, we expect to be in the playoffs we expect to be top tier competitors and we expect to lose the UMHB (Heh Heh threw that one in there)

LOL. I was just trying to take something said a thousand times and say it in a different, light hearted way.  There's not a whole lot to jab Mount fans about regarding their team, so the bracket is about the only fodder we have to tweak them. At least until after the Stagg Bowl.  ;)

You know better than to think we expect to lose to UMHB. I know the old saying that there is a first time for everything, but there really is no first time for things that don't ever happen.  ;)

DISCLAIMER TO AVOID HURT FEELINGS BY ST JOHNS OR BETHEL FANS: The above was meant as fun, harmless banter and in no way does it assume that UMHB will beat St. John's or that UW-W will beat Bethel. Both are fine Minnesota football teams worthy of playing December football.

Congratulations to the MIAC on a great season. I agree the MIAC should take the #1 conference ranking for 2018.

I'm hoping for a St. John's victory at UMHB. The Johnnie's O is so dynamic it's hard to envision UMHB shutting it down. My concern is the 2016 and 2017 playoff results- UMHB held every offense down. In two games they limited Mt to 12 points. No doubt the Johnnies know what they are in for- I hope they can be the Ohio State to UMHB's Michigan.

There are things that both teams do well, and both are coached well. I don't doubt that each team will struggle at times, be legit at times, and will constantly be looking for ways to improve from play to play, series to series.

Thankfully, the games aren't won based on the comments but plays on the field. It should be lots of fun.

Of course they don't have to worry about shying away because the selection committee will make sure to set it up to allow them to slide right into the semi or championship game! IMHO

Please see that it doesn't. Emotion based posts filled with bias and denial only please! This isn't bridge. It's a bar that different fan bases frequent night after night to set each other straight!  ;)
