one very tough track to slog through this season,  JSU by far was the most difficult in all phases we have faced. Next game...we've not fared well against UW-W....I still remember 17-16 game....Time for some adult beverages

What about the 7-3 game in Belton on 10.28.06 when the only TD scored came on the opening kickoff return of 94 yards.

I think UWW is 5-0 all-time against the Cru...but you are well aware of that.

Great game!

I've told this story before, probably on this board, but I'll share it again as it's been a couple years. That game was played when streaming audio was still the primary way of following games and Keith and I did a bunch of games together over the course of a couple of years as a D3football.com Game of the Week.

Keith and I flew down there for this game. Things are going pretty smoothly, we get through our pregame and starting lineups and the teams are on the field for the opening kickoff. Since there were a few seconds to spare while waiting, I pull out the binoculars to identify the return men for Whitewater specifically -- to know which one was which. And thank goodness, because sometimes on long returns when I hadn't done that work, it would take me a while to find out which guy was which, and I would have traveled a thousand or so miles and blown the only TD call of the day.

Was that the game where the wind was god awful? I can't remember if it was against mhb or Wesley.

In the game i'm Thinking of, one of the kickoffs actually went negative yards because the wind was so strong. The kicking team thought they recovered an onside kick because of it, but it turned out not to be  case.

One other thing about the UMHB win over the Johnnies is that it helps preserve the Sanctity of the Purple.

SJU has been the only interloper in the 21st Century. For the Purples, now UMU needs to take care of business next week, and the Purple will be safe.

UWW, I'm guessing, will look to run quite a bit next week. I know they can throw, but running is their game. Defensively, I think we will have a bit of an easier time. I don't think their QB and WR's are as dynamic.

Very interesting perspective.  :)

What are you thinking offensively?

I speaking from the throwing side of things. From the stats, it seems that UWW likes to run more. We do well against the run, and I don't think UWW has quite as prolific passing game as SJU.

Interesting. Bethel said the same thing.  ;)

St. John's spoke like you do.  ;D

Take it back, take it back now.

;D

Weather looks pretty good next Saturday if you're a Midwesterner.

Not so much if you're from the south.

Enjoy.

QB Jock Itch

Great win by The CRU yesterday. The defense played good against a very good QB, I thought we had just enough pressure with our front 4. I didn't think we adjusted much to the shallow crossing routes than ran all day, our LBs would drop a little deep but they did keep everything in front of them. The johnnie's O was explosive but we handled it.

The offense once again took the opening drive in for a TD which sets a good tone for the game (I believe we have taken the opening drive in for TDs in all of the playoff games, great stat!!) I don't think Jase had his best passing game but delivered the ball in traffic most of the day (which is not always easy to do when you know you're going to be killed after you release the ball) Markeith is just a bull he didn't get his 100 but made his presence known. The WRs did made some great catches, I still would like to see Josey get more targets he's just so strong. I wouldn't mind them going 5 wide with D Taylor, KJ, Sims, Jonell, and Josey. Pick your poison. The O-Line had to battle all day, missed some assignments but also picked up some key biltz schemes.

I've got to brag on our punter Holten he is a HUGE weapon!!! Don't know what he averaged but it flipped the field quit a bit. On a side note don't know if anyone knows it but we have an NFL deep snapper Freshman Hunter Longcrier is a STUD!!! Watch his snaps compared to everyone else we've played, he gets the ball back to Holten in a hurry and on point (he's also quick out of his stance and down the field) Anthony Avila still is doing a great job, I'm not even worried about that miss.

All an all we faced our toughest opponent up-to-date which is the way it should be in the playoffs. We need to get some guys healthy and in a hurry uww is coming to town. Go CRU!!!

umhb2001

Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

We are considering coming down for the game and would love to hear some suggestions on travel plans.
Do most fly into Austin or DFW? Austin looks to be more expensive with fewer options from Chicago.
Do visitors typically stay in Belton or perhaps Temple or even Austin?
I've wanted to visit Austin (hoping for country music) for some time, maybe we could go after the game Saturday for the night. The problem is if we fly in/out of DFW, I imagine it's a 3 hour drive from Austin.

Appreciate any suggestions.

Deep or Longsnappers and STUD are two words we don't often see lumped together in the same sentence. In Hunter's honor, I hope he gets plenty of opportunities to show off his... studly stuff against the Warhawks.

Hmm   "7 points for deep snap for a PAT and 3 points for a deep snap for a FG"

I hope that he shows off so well that UMHB goes on to the Stagg.
