Happy 1st day of the 2019 CRU football. Should be another fun yr. If ya haven't already, ya need to watch a good 24 min interview with Coach Fred on KCENTV . I'm ready for some football!!

Here is the link to that interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJqFJocoY-M

Interesting tidbit, Aaron Sims will be suspended for the first 5 games of the season for violating team rules.
How do you maintain the tradition? An All-American sits 5 games for team rule violations. If that doesn't send a message, nothing does.

He's suspended for half of the regular season?  That must have been one very important rule he broke!

UMHB has never been afraid to suspend a star football player, even for the Stagg Bowl, for breaking a team rule.

That is commendable as long as there is a process that allows all sides to be heard and that process is applied evenly to all athletes. I have no doubt UMHB does it right.

Looks like McMurry has committed to a complete revamp with a total coaching staff overhaul.  I'm sure it is tough to compete in the same town w/ HSU and combined with the failed Hal Mumme DII experiment, it will be a tough road.  But Neal has a good reputation and has legitimate credibility, so this could be just what  McMurry needs.  I would think this program is already better than what it was prior to Neal arriving and just being more competitive in games will be a huge step.  Best case scenario IMO, is that it results in a 4 win season.

Nice find - thanks for sharing.  +k !

I think Neal can take his history from HSU days (personal and program winning heritage) plus what he did with the offense at Hendrix to make a real difference at McM.   A new class of 70 (including transfers) is huge for his first year in the program!  Fascinating that he got a two-year starter at QB to move to WR ... must have some incoming talent to make a move like that, and kudos to Hurley for wanting to do what's best for the program instead of what's best for him.  All the best to McMurry.

I think Jordan will do a fantastic job, Following his recruiting posts this off season it seems like he went after quality character guys to build a high character atmosphere of players (yes i did some social media stalking). He has tons he can teach a QB from personal exp. and a great IQ for the offensive side of the ball. I'm glad I live down the road from McM. Ill be in attendance supporting my friend when I'm not in Belton. I hope to see great strides in the program.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Looks like the Cru will be without the services of both return men this year.. K J Miller will not be on the team this year, and Sims is suspended half the season. Looks like an opportunity for some new young talent to step up.

Yep and we lost the UCLA and Oregon transfers. But got some other good ones
Where are you getting the info about these transfers? I'm always interested in keeping up with these things, but I never know where to look.

Is the Oregon transfer you're referring to the guy from Linfield?

Here's another local story regarding the new staff and program at McMurry.

Texas Lutheran has had some really good safeties over the last 6 or so years.  James Bell is a pre-season All-American.  I think one or two before him received national recognition as well.  TLU's defense should be pretty good this year.

Ohhh I hope things are well with him, I'd hate to see someone not finish at their senior year. I know he was a better BaseBall athlete and thought maybe he had his rings and thought it is time to focus on baseball. I hope things work well for him. He's gone quiet since February

I didn't actually see him on the baseball roster last year either...
