Happy 1st day of the 2019 CRU football. Should be another fun yr. If ya haven't already, ya need to watch a good 24 min interview with Coach Fred on KCENTV . I'm ready for some football!!

Here is the link to that interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJqFJocoY-M

Interesting tidbit, Aaron Sims will be suspended for the first 5 games of the season for violating team rules.

Yep and we lost the UCLA and Oregon transfers. But got some other good ones
Where are you getting the info about these transfers? I'm always interested in keeping up with these things, but I never know where to look.

Is the Oregon transfer you're referring to the guy from Linfield?

At the risk of answering for another poster, no, the Linfield transfer is not the "transfer from Oregon."  To my knowledge, the running back from Linfield is on campus.  There was a transfer from the University of Oregon as well and I haven't heard confirmation on whether he actually made it or not.

Thanks for the info. The kid from Linfield looks like a stud, and I'm glad to hear that he apparently made it to campus.

Hope to see some of the new faces at the two scrimmages this weekend. Getting to see some football will make it sink in that the season is upon us.

Just when I thought we are out, my second daughter is now enrolled in UMHB's Master of Business program. Just when you think your out of it, they bring you back in. On the other hand, hey, now I have more reasons to just accidentally show up to the cruthedral on game days.

That is a great department!  Or, was a few years back when I went there.  About 1/2 of my classes for my MSIS were from the MBA program...

Pretty bad first half for the Cru. Scrimmage or not

QB Jock Itch

They are holding Hammack out of the scrimmage and some practice. Wish I could watch it online some how. Give us your thoughts for Offense and Defense.

Hammack can't fix such a bad offensive scheme.  I have been a fan forever but they rely on defense way to much . They try to out athlete everyone and their offense is so plain and vanilla it hurts to watch. If zone read up the middle with offinsive lineman blocking a zone scheme is anyone's idea of fun to watch then they for you.

I'm not there to see this scrimmage; but, this scheme has had them go 44 and 1 over the last 3 years. As the folks in front of our season tickets say, there goes Miller up the middle again... Iirc, they tied this team 17 all last year.

I agree. Plus, it's not like teams show very much of their play books in scrimmages anyway. Scrimmages are almost always just milquetoast plays so the team can practice fundamentals. Whatever UMHB has been doing, it works.

UMHB has been practicing for  a week and in pads for 2 days, of course it was a little rough.

Of course you expect it to be rough. You also expect your lineman to win their battles and for the longest run by a back to be more than 4 yards. Noone said open the playbook or anything of that nature but now is the time to try some plays that are not run up the middle on every down. There is no Markeith to keep getting pounded anymore.

I can't remember, last year they were talking about Monterey Tech or tomorrow's team being 25+ average age?
