guess i'm watching the dc defenders.

Looks like you can expand your TV watching as Blake Jackson was picked up by the Houston Roughnecks.
do we get to see reggie cole vs blake jackson at some point? that would be awesome
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Oof,  that'd be a heck of a watch!

The NCAA page says that UMHB got two years probation (among other things) as a result of the rules infraction.  Does that mean that UMHB football becomes ineligible to compete in the postseason for the next two years, or what?  What, exactly, does "probation" entail?

No, they are not banned from postseason. If they were, they wouldn't be ranked #1. I think it means that if something else were to happen, another infraction, we would probably be shut down.

Thanks.  I was thinking when McMurry returned to D3 from D2 sports, there were several years when we were on "probation" meaning no post-season play.  The UMHB-HSU game two weekends from now should be a "must win" for each team.

McMurry was in transition, not on probation.

Additional consequences, sure, but I'm sure there are steps between the penalties currently levied against UMHB and the death penalty.

It's going to be interesting to of course watch the remaining DIII Season, but also the new XFL with a few names we are familiar with. Reggie Cole, Blake Jackson and Joe Callahan (Who I really enjoyed watching him play when he was with Wesley) have all been picked up so I am going to ask, are you DIII faithful going to give the XFL a look? And could this be a avenue for the talented DIII players who just can't beyond the NFL bubble to have a decvent shot to go into a post College league?

I have always been surprised with as football crazed as the US is that a second football league has never caught on. Seems like the XFL has a chance though, from what I hear they have some pretty good TV contracts already and will start the week after the Super Bowl.

I will definitely be watching if Reggie or Blake makes their respective squads and will most likely tune in a time or two if they don't. I don't watch a ton of NFL football anyway as I would much prefer to watch college over the pros.

Wanted to give a heads up to any UMHB fan out there that the Coach Fredenburg show was put up online in podcast form for the first time on https://www.centexsportsfan.com. Hopefully this will now be a weekly thing.

I'll give the XFL a chance if it's convenient to find/watch. Spring is usually when I transition to watching diamond sports for me (especially fastpitch), but the XFL's business model of promoting itself as a true football team sport first (and not player/character-based with all kinds of bells and whistles) is pretty intriguing. Their attempt to speed up the game sounds promising too.  I hope it works.

Interesting development at QB for HSU: Kyle Jones will start against Belhaven per this week's game notes.
