But all of these suppositions, is't this the joy of a division that can flip on a turn? Yeah the Cru run game got smothered, but so did the run game for HSU to some extent last game. Hemphill is a near supernatural gift of a runner but the guys responded, considering his outrageous skill (Someone has got to serious look at him post college career) he didn't continuously find the endzone.
I'd like to see more work going to  Musue, Jonell is just a bit too iffy for me as a primary go to. (2018 stagg bowl touchdown ready pass in his hand and dropped) and really liking Ruckman.
Look, we have three more games to go, let's see how things go, TLU has a pool AQ in their sights and the possibility of grabbing it so another exciting match coming up but I believe the guys will rise up.

Ruckman has impressed me as well. I think we are figuring it out with the TE instead of the smaller speedy slot receivers we had last year. I also liked what I saw out of Hayden Haas a few games back.

The problem is injuries. We've had a ton!! A lot of O-Line are playing with tough injuries, lost the possible starting RB (Linfield transfer) before the season, lost KJ n Sims (that hurts both at WRs n K/P Returners. We're haven't seen the Defense n Special teams scoring like last year.

I believe the Coach Fred has so much confidence in the Defense, that it makes the play calling on Offense be a little more conservative and CRU FANatic's don't like that. Jo'Vel will be a really good RB with a little more time.

We just need to take care of the last 3 conference games and get to the playoffs playing well. Doesn't matter how you start, it's all about the finish!!

TLU lost to Hendrix.

That makes me think that the ASC Pool A bid may have a hard time getting past the 2nd or 3rd round this year.

I see the Crusaders rolling through the first two rounds of the playoffs, having a difficult time in the third round and then losing in the Semi-Finals. I think that UWW/St. Johns has a better offensive line that we do at HSU and will be able to execute the gameplan that we put together which was run the ball enough to get first downs, don't turn the ball over, and make UMHB's offense beat you. Which I don't think UMHB's offense can handle that, at least right now. The offensive play calling has always been an issue at UMHB, and they don't have the stud athletes like in the past to make up for it. I just don't see them making it to the Stagg Bowl this year, not taking anything away from them, I have a ton of respect for that program.

UWW will likely use the running game approach but the Johnnies will almost certainly go with try-to-keep-up, five wide all day every play.  On the chance we make the post season. Against every team we face.

Very interesting week in the ASC in my opinion.  TLU vs. Sul Ross could be a game.  If TLU is on, they should take care of business.  But Sul Ross has the potential to give them a game, so looking forward to that one.  TLU playing for a chance at a playoff berth.  ETBU and Howard Payne could be another really interesting game.  HPU is much improved this year and ETBU is coming off a tight game vs. McMurry.  Not sure if ETBU was off or if McMurry is beginning to respond to the new staff and approach.  ETBU should probably be favored, but I think it can go either way.  Southwestern vs. McMurry could also be a tight game.  McMurry I believe is playing a lot of young players and they appeared to have caught up a bit based on the team's performance vs. ETBU.  With young players, you just can't count on a lot of consistency, but if McMurry can put a game together like they did last week, they may have a chance.  UMHB and HSU will be a battle, but I just don't think HSU has the ability to hang with the CRU for four full quarters.  But you never know when these two meet.  I hope it is a good, tight game.   Looking forward to Saturday!

Haven't had a chance to follow-up on this post.  Sort of figured HSU would make a game of it but thought UMHB would pull away.  That didn't happen.  What an ending. HPU was right with ETBU.  I think they are a much improved team even though their record isn't great.  They are improving and much more competitive than they have been.  TLU is humming along.  That loss against Hendrix may likely come back to haunt them come playoff time unless they can knock of UMHB.  And they could.  McMurry, for the 2nd week in a row, had a chance in the end to win.  They look like they have improved as the season goes on.  They have an emotional game this week vs. Hardin Simmons.  Will be interesting to see if they can hang at least for the first half.  Southwestern struggled on offense but did enough to win.  Looking forward to this weekend.

Got to give the site credit, no idea where they are coming from but I listened to the podcast that featured the local HSU writer before the game and the one after the "wild, controversial" ending and the guy knows his stuff.

Well, the 2 deep is up for the Louisiana College game this weekend.  Only things of note really were that Tevin Jones only needs 13 more tackles to hit the 300 mark which would put him only the 4th Crusader to do that.  He has a good chance to take the #2 spot from Baylor Mullins (326); although, I don't think he will match Javicz Jones's 467.

Man Javicz was good, had 71 tackles as a freshmen and then 120 plus in 3 straight seasons.

Well, this looks a lot more like the Cru we are used to. Theriot is looking pretty good at rb too.

Had to check the UMHB page itself to see a recap, box score, or participation list (I wanted to see if Hammack was back and playing better), and saw there were technical issues ("Stats were not immediately available due to technical issues in the press box. But UMHB dominated in every category."). I am a terrible person, but my first thought was, "I don't want to see an autopsy, either."

Yep. Sometimes a retuning comes after a look in the mirror. I'm sure the Cru are the only ones who've EVER dealt with adversity and the need for growth.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

QB Jock Itch

The CRU played good but still has some things to clean up. A few blown coverages, some snap and hand off issues, and kick coverage. I really liked the up tempo look on offense. It definitely gave a much needed boost in the run game. Not talking bad but LC was extremely overmatched.

This week should be a fun game. TLU is good!!!

Maybe we will get some more bodies back from injuries.
