Jase wasn't on the 2017 team.  That was Carl Robinson III----------he was only a freshmen.  Great arm but stood in the pocket too long.  UWW pounded UMHB's defensive line.  Poor play calling by Coach Lee and poor decision making by Fredenburg------------he knew Jase was hurt but wanted him to stay in.  They needed someone more mobile in there that wasn't going to sit there and hold the dang ball all day.  I thought the 3 freshmen lineman did a fantastic job especially considering such a big game.  When an offense can get 4-5 yds every time they run the ball, you need to make adjustments---UMHB did not make any.  Moving Jeffereson Fritz screwed the defense.  Was at a loss as to why they didn't start Mikah Hackett---------dude is a beast and has played some great football.  2 picks for TD's in a game, fast on run support.  Poor coaching in this game by UMHB.

I knew Jase wasn't the QB in 2017. I was referring to the defensive game plan being much the same. Pressure the QB and make him run for his life. Atleast Carl could scramble. Either way the offense was shutdown. No adjustments were ever made to put the QB in a better position to make a play. He was a sitting duck ripe for the picking.
Nice to see you pop up again. it has been a while. I agree on all points. This season reminded me a lot of 2017. Had a conversation with Kelly Boggs at the Huntingdon game in which he said, "if we manage to win the National Championship..." It was a possibility , but not nearly the possibility it was last year in our minds. The other side of course is this is a young team now. 3 experienced Freshman o-line man some injured players that I have confidence will boos the offense next year and we know that the coaches can recruit.Time to celebrate the seniors and their fantastic achievements and get ready for the coming season.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

It's going to be interesting to see what the crowd will be like in Shenandoah without a "local" team involved.   Dare say it won't be 6,800 again.

While I hope your wrong, it won't surprise me if it turns out that way.

Last week we booked the same hotel in Spring, TX as we did for last year's Stagg Bowl.  We had a great time that weekend with friends enjoying several BBQ joints in the area prior to game.  We're driving down Friday morning from the Fort Worth, TX, and spending one night.

We're going to support the NCAA D-III Football Championship Game in Shenandoah, TX, and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor as the host school.  This will be our fourth time in a row to attend the Stagg Bowl - all road trips.

This is the last year for the Stagg Bowl in Texas for who knows how long.  For my wife and me, it's not just about supporting your team, it's about supporting the event, especially with UMHB as the host school.  We found this to be true at the 2017 Stagg Bowl in Salem, VA.  Local folks sitting behind us were there supporting the event, and not because of the teams playing.

It won't be the same without the Cru, but we will enjoy the trip anyways.  We'll be fans of the 2019 Stagg Bowl representing UMHB!

That's awesome! Last weekend, the support people at UMHB were great. Extremely hospitable and helpful. Extremely impressive. After the game, one young man said "I hope we see you in a couple of weeks." I asked if he was working that game and he said, "Yes, we will all be there."  I hadn't thought too much about it before, but being a "host school" is far from name only. A whole bunch of support staff from UMHB will be there to make sure the event runs smoothly.  And if UW-W's experience the past two years are any indication, they will do a great job! I would encourage any fans who can make it to go. And make it a point to talk with people working the game. They are probably UMHB staff and every single one of them that I met are really nice folks.

Wow it's an odd feeling not watching the Cru play this weekend. I've been spoiled with all the years of success.

Already ready for next season

Yes, sitting at home on semifinal Saturday is quite odd.  Last time I didn't have a semifinal game to watch was 1994.  That takes the definition of spoiled to ridiculous levels.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

It is weird, but the UWW SJU game is fun to watch. The announcers are all over the place though. Better than some years, but still...

North Central has been designated as the home team for this year's Stagg Bowl.

After watching the games Saturday, it is safe to say UMHB has a better FG kicker in Avila and punter in Fritz than those on the semifinal teams. WOW!

Also, woe has it Jesse Burleson was on hand for the Cru v Warhawk game. Guess that saying "the enemy of my enemy is my friend," or something like that.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

I'm happy with our (UW-W)  kicking game, but didn't you kind of expect that to be the case?  Avila is an All-American, right?  And Fritz?? My goodness, I've very rarely seen a ball explode off a punter's foot like it does off of his. My mind might be making this up, but it seems like it even SOUNDED different.  If he is consistently as explosive as he kicked against UW-W, then he needs to get an NFL look.

He didn't have enough punts to qualify for the NCAA's stats (Needed 8 more to hit the 47 mark to qualify), but would have ranked 3rd overall in yards at 44.4 yards per punt.  Had 12 over 50, 14 inside the 20, and 11 fair catches.  Season long was a 63 yarder.

The UMHB O-line took some pretty heavy "beat-downs" from the pundits on this board after the UWW game.  The podcast after the semi-final focuses on the UWW defense getting 7 sacks against the Johnnie QB, who is a 5,000 yard passer/Gagliardi winner. Perhaps we need to re-assess those freshmen O-linemen.

Please link and listen at about 30:00.

Sounds like Reggie Cole is doing pretty well in the XFL Defender's minicamp!  Good to see a Cru alum getting some playing time at the next level.  Maybe we will see some Cru on Cru action with the Houston Roughnecks (Blake Jackson) playing them on March 22nd.

One of our strength and conditioning coaches took a job with the Defenders and he was excited to meet and work with Reggie. Glad to hear he is doing well!

Ralph, I agree with you. I think our (UW-W) D-line is pretty under-rated. St. John's counted their O-line as a strength and our guys dominated. They had four seniors and a junior.  Your freshmen will be just fine.
