Lots of good things from the Cru today. UMHB appears to be headed in the right direction. Not sure of the offensive stats, but the young Oline needs to block the run better.

Throwing the ball wasn't horrible. Cold/wet day leads to some errant throws, drops, and some miscommunication leads to some missed chances as well.

I like what I see, though.
The defense looks elite again.

Lots of potential at QB and RB. It's hard to judge the receivers due to the sloppy conditions, but there were still too many drops. The O-Line has a long way to go, unfortunately, and the offense isn't going to reach it's full potential until they can at least play serviceably.
I have heard that Sellars missed the game due to Covid, so the Oline leader couldnt play

They may have advertised it on the game broadcast but just in case they didn't there is a Coach Fredenburg show every Tuesday at 6:30.  You can listen to it  live or via pod cast at https://www.centexsportsfan.com/. They also post all the media sessions that the team does.

As much as I miss football, can't say I am sad that UMHB wasn't even scheduled to play this weekend. Gotta love it knowing it should be in the 50's during the games next weekend.

And Pat just RTd that both HPU-HSU and McM-TLU have been postponed, so the only ASC game still on (at this point) is Belhaven at ETBU.

All ASC football games have been postponed for this weekend. They will be rescheduled according to a press release from the conference.

It is gameweek in Belton. The Cru host Southwestern on Saturday at noon. Here's everything you need to know about the matchup, including quotes from HC Pete Fredenburg, two-deep depth chart, and news and notes on Southwestern.

UMHB football looked good, though there was certainly some rust in yesterday's 52-7 win over Southwestern.

Was going over the schedules and saw that if Hardin Simmons can win their 4 scheduled games and host the ASC Championship, they will only leave Abilene once. Now that once is all the way to Sul Ross but still thought it was funny how their schedule game together.

Oof, today is not Avila's day...

A horrible game all the way around.

Oline couldn't
QBs couldn't throw
When they did, WRs dropped many balls
Kicker couldn't kick
Defense was less than stellar.

Our coaches seem to be blinded by tunnel vision.

We were lucky to win.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

No doubt about it. They survived to fight another day, but they have a lot of work to do. Hopefully they'll get back to playing UMHB football in the last game (or probably two). The team we saw today would have zero chance against HSU.

Yeah there are just so many moving parts on the team right now...the passing game needs to be much better...defense forced 4 turnovers but you can't allow 384 passing yards and expect to win big.

Nice recap. THe thing that killed us saturday was the little dump and run for big yards over the middle. HSU will do that all day if we don't figure that out. But truthfully, Saturday was a Murphy's law kind of game. In what universe does Avila miss short, right, left, then doink one off the bar in the same HALF. I cant ever remember a time we had that many turnovers that resulted in nothing. How often does Fritz pick one off then fumble it back, or the defense give up a big gain on 3rd and long for the first down, but the other team commits an unsportsmanlike and gets penalized back to basically where the 3rd and long started but with a first down. It was a weird game. As for the passing game,I don't know that it's really the case, but when Bowden throws from the RPO he seems to take forever to get in position and then is rushing to throw or scrambling for his life. I think he will get there, but I think right now, King looks better passing.
I loved that Montana got the start and was able to show out a little, but I wish they'd hand him the ball and let him work with more designed runs and a little less RPO, especially with the Freshman on the Oline. They got 2 weeks before LC, gusee we'll see what the coaches work up.
