MUC57

Hey you Cru fans

Just saw the D3football.com preseason top 25 poll. I think it only fair that number 1 should play number 2 for the national championship.
See you in Canton? Let's do it. Go Cru! Go Raiders! 8-)  ;D
I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

I am down if you are. Since we got to play you guys in front of a close-ish home crowd in 2018, guess we need to return the favor for you guys in Canton.

The ASC is going to be back in the two non-conference games business in 2023 ... Southwestern is leaving for the SAA.

That is a bummer, I knew it wouldn't happen but I was hoping they could convince Trinity to join the ASC (maybe even for just football) so that all football playing Texas schools could be in the same conference.

I would have been interested to hear the pros and cons for moving, obviously they will have a better chance of success but that surely is going to greatly increase their travel cost.

their press release talked about being a high academics school and wanting to be in a conference with other high academic schools. I'm sad because it means my push for the game to be called the battle for the republic has hit a road block
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Let's face. With UMHB in the same conference, Southwestern never had a chance at a Pool A bid. In the SAA, they do.

AT UMHB, the yardstick is the 5th round of the Playoffs; for Southwestern, it is the 1st round.

Another silver lining to them moving, if they make the playoffs at some point it makes for some more options for match ups depending on how many ASC teams make the playoffs in that year.

I guess we are really just trading Austin College for southwestern lol. I guess this means the end of hilarious sound clips from their head coach about UMHB "running up the score" with their second and third teams...

My fav is listening to the SU broadcast team. I've watched them fumble around during UMHB games and had a good enough laugh that I didnt tune in to the Cru broadcast.

Honestly, a lot of the time I'll watch the other team's broadcast muted and listening to ours on the radio.  SHN Sports puts out a pretty high quality stream.  Surprisingly (or not...) it seems like a good number of ASC teams have been moving to Sidearm over Stretch Internet.  At least, according to this from 2019:

Southwestern is only bringing their football to the SAA, where are they parking their other sports???

Other sports will remain in the SCAC I believe. Nothing about their other sports changing conferences was mentioned in the press release.

The SAA has made it clear they don't want to be travelling to Texas unless it is absolutely necessary (one of the reasons they split from the SCAC in the first place).  This is a marriage of convenience to help them retain their Pool C bid in football and reduce the number of non-conference games they have to put together each season, nothing more.

For any Cru fans out there, the 2021 roster was posted this morning and the local paper also released their annual UMHB preview guide.
