I'm pretty sure the broadcast Saturday for the Howard Payne game said they were 8 of their last 11. So 9 out of 12 games is a long way from where they were a few years ago.

It's exactly what we had in our feature story last week. :)

Personally, I'm not so sure that the "throw it up to Jordan" strategy isn't good enough by itself to get y'all to the semis. There is nobody in Division 3 who can cover that guy. If King keeps throwing pretty deep balls and stops fumbling that is a devastating combination.

I'm not sure UMHB needs that strategy to get to the semis (I think they can beat everybody else with or without Jordan).  But that's the strategy that might win in the semis and beyond.  Jordan gives me serious Kumerow vibes in the way that he's just physically unguardable by 99.9% of this division's DBs.

Watched the 2nd half of the game. Saying UMHB played with a sense of urgency after the break is an understatement.

There seems to be a little brother syndrome for the Cowboys as a program in that situation.  They have the talent but seems they just don't know how to close the door or really believe they can.

Ooh I missed that one. I've gotten really bad about not going to the main website... Well, that and trying to convince the wife I need a new camera body for my sports photography hobby lol... Maybe one day I'll get to do it for real...

What's y'all's opinion on umhb secondary? To me they just don't dominate like umhb secondary usually does. Still very good, just not the shut down I'm use to seeing from UMHB. Their secondary always dominated games usually even against passing teams like HSU

Statistics wise, they're about in line with previous years.  They're holding opponents to an average of 133 yards fewer passing than the opponents have averaged against other teams (93, 196, 100, and 143 among Simpson, ETBU, Southwestern and Hardin-Simmons).  The 151 yards given up to Hardin-Simmons this year is on par with 2019, 2018 and 2017.  In 2020/21 and 2016 UMHB gave up 256 and 235 respectively.  But, the Cru are giving up more points than usual.

I was on the sideline standing next to a first year UMHB football alum. As soon as the score was tied, he said it was over for HSU. He said the Cowboys knew they were beaten and weren't going to pull it out.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Game notes for UMHB at Austin College are up. Noticed Anthony Avila is now listed as the 2nd string placekicker. Now I just need to decide if I want to drive 3.5 hours to the game...

Noticed that too, would love to know more about that. Anthony did miss 2 PATs against Southwestern and then a potentially very important one on Saturday but has proven his worth over the years so I hope this is just a bump in the road.

Yeah, part of me wonders if this is a warning shot or real lol.  Hopefully it is something mental.  That southwestern game wasn't really good for the kicking game as a whole with Cunningham missing the field goal after Avila got pulled.

True, it shows how spoiled we have gotten with Avila and other throughout the year.

I felt bad for Anthony after the ETBU game in the spring because you would have thought he missed all easy ones. He missed from 51, 43, 44 and 29, most D3 teams wouldn't have even attempted those kicks except the 29 yard one.

We are totally spoiled.  He seems to come through in the clutch when needed though.  Looks like only a 15% chance of rain for tomorrow at game time so that is nice...

Worse than the umhb one normally is? It is quite nice at the stadium lol. Not sure it was worth a 3.5 hour drive but what else did I have to do right?

The UMHB feed is pretty good today. In other news McMurry is up 13-10 on HSU at the half.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.
