The father of one of the HPU backup QBs got on Twitter and told Pat that HPU should be in the top 10  :o ??? ::)

Quote@HPUFootball should already be in the top 10. 🤦‍♂️

Bless his heart.

Haha, I saw that. Honestly, they've looked better against common opponents than Hardin Simmons in my opinion. From the games I've watched, Hardin Simmons hasn't looked their usual self except for that first half against UMHB.

Thanks for the shout-out Mr Ypsi!

Jordan Neal seems to be turning McMurry around.
Lose to HPU by 6; ETBU by 9 on the road and HSU by 3.

A 4-4 record is not beyond reach.

I actually agree with this, but you can't 'common opponent' your way from unranked into the Top 10.

Hopefully they can keep it going and we find out for real on the 30th. I'd love to see them play Hardin Simmons really close or even beat them.

Saw that, I like that spirit, need to get him to the boards for some other thoughts.

Go recruit him!

I'll do that.

On another subject, how bout this open week...for the entire ASC? The ASC twitter account said it was a coach request and incorporated into the new schedule cycle (2021/2022, 2023/2024). Look to be fresh for the last half push to AQ and at-large spots in Div III Championship!

Will be an interesting 2 year experiment to see how it affects the teams across the conference. Am I crazy for noticing that it just so happens to correspond to the weekend of the Texas/OU game? I realize this weekend is the mid point of the season but I have seen how that game very much impacts attendance and couldn't help but wonder.

In the Centennial Conference they have a midseason bye week that is scheduled to coincide with midterm exams.

I love the mid season break. I hated when we had week one off. That serves zero purpose. Fredenburg said in his radio show that he doesn't like it, but I think it makes for a great opportunity to give a break to the team and get some guys healthy.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

It may make finding a non-conference opponent more difficult. With 2 Texas teams in the SAA, that means they will only fill one non-conference foe each of 2 teams of the ASC. With 2 weekends to fill that might have meant 4 games.

I thought about that, I wonder if that is why at least for now it is only going to happen this year and next when Southwestern is still a part of the schedule for everyone. When they leave and we all need more non conference games, I could see this going away so that it does give all of us more flexibility in finding games.

News of some import: https://www.d3football.com/notables/2021/10/region-shift

Welcome back ASC.  The NCAA actually does learn from their mistakes on occasion, it would appear.

jknezek

Welcome to where you should have been all along ASC!

Pleasantries out of the way, I'd like to ask for 1 or 2 ASC followers to volunteer for the Region III fan poll. As of this week the ASC is in and the PAC is out. I'll be treating this like a fresh start on the year.

The way I've been running the poll this year is ballots are due Tuesday by midnight (any time zone midnight, it's just a deadline and I'm not going to be up waiting to post). Usually the voters have been early, so the poll has gone up Tuesday evening, but you will have the time if you need it.

We are doing a top 7 only. I didn't think the Region was big enough to need 10 teams deep and I still don't think so, though I might change my mind for next year depending on how it goes.

The only thing I ask is that you commit to this and have fun with it. It's no fun if I have to track you down every week or pester you for your ballot.  It is fun if you put 30 minutes into doing it each week and then participate in whatever discussion comes up after we post.

If you have interest, or questions, feel free to Private Message me. Thanks and I hope someone will step up to provide us some ASC expertise in the Poll.

IMHO, the PresAC going to Region 2 makes a lot of sense, especially with respect to Mission and Vision.
