Don't let them know YOU'RE coming to town. They might try to hold you off at the pass!  ;D

Rivalry renewed: UMHB and Linfield set to meet in quarterfinal matchup:

https://truetothecru.com/2021/11/30/rivalry-renewed-umhb-and-linfield-set-to-meet-in-quarterfinal-matchup/

A couple of notable things covered in our article from HC Pete Fredenburg's news conference:

-A decision on the starting quarterback against Linfield has not yet be made: "We don't necessarily have a controversy. We just have two really good quarterbacks."

-This will not be the first time UMHB's defense faces Linfield QB Wyatt Smith: "We played [Smith] before, when he was a freshman. He's a lot better now than he was then. It'll be a big challenge for our defense."

-The UMHB defensive front is more than prepared for the challenge: "Obviously, it will be a big test. But our front four is playing extremely well right now." 19 TFL, 6 sacks for the Cru defense over the last two playoff games.

Hard job for anyone to take on, that is a long way away from pretty much everything. Beautiful place to watch a game once you get there but has to be a tough sell.

Agreed.  And the difficulties in recruiting out there make the job even harder.

The word over on the NW Board is that our safeties aren't very good and that our front is soft.

We'll see. I think we have great depth on the line, some young guys have made up for the side to side speed we had been lacking, and rarely do they throw Fritz's way.

When you can shut down a whole side of a field, that's not too bad.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

If they can play how they did against Trinity and BSC they'll be fine. UMHB has had the hardest two games out of any of the teams remaining. Not taking anything away from Linfield, but both of those offenses put up great numbers this year as well. Holding Trinity to 3 and BSC to 0 says something about the CRUs box. If the box plays well, well then who care if the safeties have to come down, they can play, you know "safety."

Trinity has elite speed at the WRs and they kept them to half their average. BSC has an all American RB they kept him on check.

If the offense can muster 24 points, UMHB wins all day.

To be fair---"the word on the NW Board" is from a SCIAC guy.  I don't think anybody from Linfield thinks that the CRU is anything but an elite team across the board.
Go Cats!

Don't be spoiling our bulletin board material haha. At this point of the season I am way too sports paranoid to be overly confident about any opponent and when that opponent is Linfield I have too many memories of them ending our season to be confident until the very end of the game.

My hope is Fred goes back to platooning quarterbacks.

We're all holding our breath... word is that "the QB who performs best in practice will start"... both QB's have performed well over the year but Redding had the best performance of the year and in a playoff game at that. Either way PLEASE no platooning! Instill confidence in one guy and let it rip! QBs and Kickers don't perform well when constantly looking over there shoulder..

I feel the same way. Our track record against Linfield has not been great. Better than our track record against Whitewater, but nevertheless, I still remember how aggravating and disappointing it was when they ended our 2014 season prematurely in Crusader Stadium (one of only two home losses since the stadium opened).

I don't mean to ruffle any feathers, but UW-W has beaten the CRU there twice. So maybe three home losses?
