Don't run a QB keeper and take the FG. Throw it to your big guy on a quick slant and don't allow 21 to hold his arms down

Refs were horrible.

They were terrible

A fan of D3 football here. Had a feeling it would be ugly after reviewing playoff scores and watching the CRU play this year...

Lol Had to take my family out to get dinner just  so I could tune in on ESPNU. Place was so loud couldn't hear a thing. Eyes told all. It's embarrassing to watch it on the TV and see that the refs don't get it right on the biggest stage. I can see a call here or there. There's always a penalty on every play of "every game" in reality, but on this game, calls were just bad. It happened for both teams where calls weren't made. However, if they hadn't blown so many, this could have been 63-7 type game.   With all the talk about how UMHB got some calls their way throughout the playoffs, they sure did have the roles reverse on officiating tonight. And oh boy did they overcome them.

CFrenzy . . . laud your crushed opponent at your pleasure, but start thinking Smith and his offense were the best MHB faced in the playoffs.
Congratulations to the National Champs!  I knew you would stride over the rest of the field after you spanked LINFIELD like you did.

I'm going to preface this with the fact that the ncaa hasn't updated it stats yet so last night's aren't included. But, UMHB faced the #2, #14, #13, #22 and #10 defenses in the nation by total defense this playoff run. They averaged 37 points per game.

Edit: a little premature posting lol.

Folks over on the OAC board blasting Coach for letting Ryan Redding throw a TD pass late in the game.

Look, if NCC could stop Plunk, surely they had enough to stop a career backup! For all the time, sweat, tears, and loyalty that kid has shown, he deserves the chance to do it. NCC could have stopped him. That was their chance.

I'm glad Coach gave him the chance, and he delivered!
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Congratulations to the CRU.  Their playoff run was absolutely epic.

And I also want to remember to take a moment to thank God for His goodness and grace in giving D-III football back to us. I'm determined never to take it for granted again.

Im glad Redding got to throw a couple. Dude has put in work, been an amazing team player, and proven me wrong on several occasions. You can bet that the players saw all the talk over the past few weeks and had something to prove. I think they proved that beyond a doubt last night.

As to Redding's td, North Central threw a 28 yard touchdown on 4th and 3 with 2 minutes remaining while up 20 in 2019 against Whitewater.  Maybe we were doing it for whitewater?

Congrats UMHB! Rep the ASC proudly. So who was the toughest team yea played. I know the closest is HSU, but how did they compare to uww, Linfield, and North Central?

Congrats, Crusaders!    Your team this year has to be one of the best D-III teams of all time.   VERY IMPRESSED.

Merry Christmas everyone!

First, congratulations to the Crusaders of Mary Hardin-Baylor. No doubt, you are the best in the land. You're number one, not because of some poll or because of what a group of people think, but because you met the challenge from the rest of Dlll. You played them on the field and prevailed in each and every case. Other good teams, like my Purple Raiders, dropped off along the way. But the Cru played on! Only you sit on top of the mountain. Only you can say, "We're number one".
And it seems there's a pretty good chance you'll be around for awhile. That's scary if you're a Mount fan. I'll try to deal with it.
Again, congratulations. You earned it!

As for the TD pass when you were up by a big score. I loved it. If you have a big lead, put in your backups. You did. Truly a nice move for a backup QB that helped  you get to the Stagg Bowl. He'll remember for the rest of his life that he threw a TD pass in the National Championship Game.
I have always felt that it's the responsibility of the other team to stop you from scoring. If they can't stop your backups. too bad.
Good move by your coaching staff.

Meanwhile, back in Alliance. I wonder how we'll do next year? That school in Belton, Texas will be back and ..........  :'(  ::)
I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

I'd say Trinity was the toughest. HSU was closer, but a lot of that was due to showing up flat (somehow) and sleepwalking through the first half. That said, HSU was still tougher than anyone we faced in the playoffs, other than Trinity.

Thanks for the kind words, Linfield fans.

Especially from my perspective at D3Baseball.com, the "Baseball West Region" teams and conferences are the red-headed step children in D-3.

That was a tremendous show, Cru

I believe Trinity was very sound in their defensive scheme but it is hard to tell because UMHB really opened up the offense and showed what they can do when its wide open during the Linfield game until the championship. If Lee keeps running the offense like that for now on with our defense we will be on another level.

HSU is very good but there is a huge difference between a program that spends all off season/summer preparing for UMHB in a regular season game year after year and teams that have to turn it around in a week during the playoffs.

I mean HSU almost lost to a 2-7 McMurry....again HSU should have been in the playoffs but I think sometimes folks get carried away comparing these situations.
