Dave Campbell (who passed away earlier this month, RIP) Texas Football is a statewide institution that has for decades covered high school and college football in the state of Texas.  They lump D1 FCS/D2/D3/NAIA into a "small college" category and name an annual all-small college team.  As you might expect this makes it pretty hard for D3 players to be recognized, but there were a few this year from the ASC:

Jefferson Fritz, Defensive Player of the Year, UMHB
Jake Parker, WR, Howard Payne
Boomer Warren, OL, Hardin-Simmons
Jeffery Sims Jr., OL, UMHB
KJ Miller, PR, UMHB

Other Texas D3 honorees:
Jerheme Urban, Coach of the Year, Trinity
Wyatt Bush, OL, Trinity
Jeremy Irving, DB, Trinity

The entire team can be found here:  https://www.texasfootball.com/article/2021/12/21/dctf-all-small-college-team

Has anyone heard when UMHB is going to have a meet, greet and signing for the football team?

In the past they have waited until the middle or late January for that activity.

On another subject, UMHB did post the post game pre conference for those interested. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRip06ftCRc

My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

So I was listening to ye ole Purple Gold and Getting Old podcast the other night.  And they seemed to think that 9 of the 11 offensive starters would be returning?  :O

WOW, that would be incredible. Did they mention which starter besides Martin isn't expected back? KJ maybe? It seems like that dude has been at UMHB since I was there.  ;D

They didn't mention any names. KJ started at ETBU in 17 where he won ASC freshman of the year. Came to UMHB in 18, sat out 19 (never heard why) then came back in 20.

Jeffery Sims may have been that second one. He still has a year remaining, so it's really too early to make a good assessment. So much can change, and the thing you have to remember is that many of these guys have jobs lined up after graduation, so even if they have a fifth year, may be unable to use it. Plus, if they've already graduated, that means enrolling in master's degree programs and things of that nature, on top of the tuition. A lot of logistics go into the decision to return for that fifth year at the D3 level. Thinking we probably won't have a good idea on the 2022 returnees until mid-spring, probably.

Merry Christmas eve to all of yall d3 football fans out there!

Great addition to the UMHB D-Line entering next season. DT Caleb Bell is transferring from Hardin-Simmons to UMHB. Bell was an All-ASC honoree in the spring, and entered the transfer portal on Aug. 24.

Glad you said what that meant! I'm from Texas, I thought you might have a stuck hair ball :D.  Happy New Year to you as well!

I know recruiting is not everyone's first interest, but without a season to talk about, figured I might as well add this to the board...a lot of solid San-Antonio area players were offered by UMHB yesterday. There's a RB out of John Jay HS by the name of Xadrian Huerta who has 3 D1 FCS offers, two of which are Ivy League schools. Exceptional ball carrier.

About 5 players were offered by UMHB yesterday:

Haven't had a chance to mention this during the year but just wanted to say my dad and I both read almost all the content you write and absolutely 100% will be following intently on the recruiting updates from True to the Cru! I think we have a chance to land some of the best recruits we've ever had now that we're a legit dynasty. Thank you for what you do!
