Wow... not sure how to feel about this. We are lucky to have had coach Fred for so long, I think coach Harmon gives our program the best chance of continued excellence. He's been the DC forever, and that defense has always been the backbone of our team.

Looks like UMHB will also lose their OC.  Some changes heading into next season.

Can't say I am surprised as rumors/talk has been gone on for years as to when Coach Pete would retire but still going to be a sad day to not see him walking the sidelines. With us losing Coach Lee, Coach Harmon will get his chance to make a big decision quickly that will affect the program immediately, anxious to see how it all turns out.

With that said, next September when we are unveiling the 2021 National Championship banner, my hope is we also unveil the new name for our field as Fredenberg Field.

If you are a proven D3 OC/DC you are probably going to be very interested in applying to UMHB.  There shouldn't be any shortage of good candidates to choose from, if the Cru go outside and don't promote from within.  It will be interesting to see which approach Coach Harmon goes with, certainly he's very familiar with the staff there.

Completely understand the nice sentiment of naming the stadium.
I am pretty sure the way it works now-a-days is Coach Fred locker room at Huge Donor Field at Oil Company Stadium.

JOKE JOKE JOKE
they could name a Subaru Dealer after him.

I seem to remember the huge donor saying that they didn't want their name on the field :D

I know coach Harmon deserves and got the job as head ball coach. Just wondering how many applications they would have had if they went outside the program to get a coach?Do you all think it would be a desirable job nationwide? Who are some coaches you guys would have wanted to apply? Some I think would be great are Coach Bell, Coach Dodge or Coach Salazar.

I think Harmon would have been my first choice. Couldn't see Dodge coming as he retired (maybe younger?). Salazar seems like an amazing defensive mind. Honestly, I'd love to see former players come back and coach for the Cru.

On another note, I wonder how this changes the team. Coach Fred had is own brand of conservative play for games that weren't blowouts. I seem to remember Coach Harmon being a little more aggressive in the games he coached to begin 2018.

Will be interesting if there ends up being some interesting moving up from Div III at some point with the leadership changes

Not that it's public knowledge for private schools.  But what is the expected salary for the UMHB HC position???

Yeah I was talking about the younger Bell and Dodge but they would probably have to take a pay cut. Baylor and Southlake Carroll both pay really well. I just hope we hit a home run on offensive coordinator with a young innovative coordinator who can take advantage of the athletes we have. Really enjoyed when Lee showed what our offense could do when we opened up what we all knew we had. Hopefully we continue with that mentality going forward. On defensive note I think Coach Johnson may be a choice we look at.

Congratulations Coach Fredenburg on your incredible tenure as Head Coach for The Crusauders of the Univeristy of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB) for its first 24 years! You have built a rock solid foundation for your replacement, UMHB's Defensive Coordinator, Larry Harmon. In your 24 years at UMHB you set the bar very high, 257 Wins and 40 Loses with an overall record of 86.532%, 3 National Championships and 19 Conference Championships! Best wishes on your next chapter of your life.
