I could understand if the rest of the ASC would want UMHB out if we had these types of runs every year but to quote good ole Coach Pete "the reality is" we don't. Yes we have absolutely dominated football but that is the only sport you could say we own. Most sports in the ASC have been pretty wide open with the exception of women's soccer (HSU), softball (ETBU since UT Tyler left) and track (McMurry).

The only school that I was ever worried about was UT Tyler who won 66 conference titles in their relatively short time in the conference before leaving for D2.

By the way, if conference championships are the measure of a school being too good for the conference then the only school that needs to be worried is not UMHB but HSU who by far leads the conference with 83. UT Tyler had the second most and then much further back sits UMHB and McMurry with 47.

Does the ASC declare an annual all-sports champion?  That would be another way to measure dominance - couldn't find anything on a quick browse of the ASC site.  I agree that (primarily) football dominance is not a good reason to kick a team out of a conference.

I am not aware either of the ASC crowning an all sports champion.  There is someone that ranks all D3 schools based on their fall and winter sports but I cannot think of who it is.  It was done based on points for conference championships, how deep you went in the playoffs, etc.  It was an impressive deal I thought.

When I followed the ASC more closely I would look at that report and see who was the highest ASC school.  UT Tyler was always was the highest.  This was probably from 2011-2016.

Yeah we don't a all sports championship, in my crazy moments I have thought of creating my own but never wanted to work out all the logistics.

I think the list you are talking about is the Learfield Directors Cup, far as I can tell you don't get point unless you make it to the NCAA playoffs. (https://nacda.com/sports/2018/7/17/directorscup-nacda-directorscup-current-scoring-html.aspx)

Right now UMHB leads the ASC with 100 points (all from football) but is 55th in the country, UT Dallas is 97th with 50 points and Concordia and HSU tied at 127th with 25 points.

Also you are right that when UT Tyler was in the conference they usually would do the best with UMHB usually doing fairly well the last few years because they would get a decent amount of points from football.

Yes, Learfield sports was the report I would look at.  Thanks for the info.

It just dawned on me.

Coach Fred became the first male ASC athletic teams coach to win 2 national championships.

McMurry's Barbara Crousen won Men's Outdoor Track and Field with McMurry in 2008 and 2012. In fact, I think that she was the first woman ever to win a national championship of a men's team.

Wow that is a good nugget of information.

I am surprised at this point that UMHB has not added track, I know for a while it seemed that not everyone in the ASC sponsored the sport but at this point we are the odd one out.

Some great nuggets in here:

I also noticed UMHB just had Trevon Sims from Mount Union transfer in.  Doesn't look like he played much but still surprising when you see someone transfer from there...

I discovered this Hardin-Simmons letter sweater at a vintage shop in St. Paul, MN today. Crazy that it ended up here!
Any Hardin-Simmons Cowboy alums interested? I will ship if you pay!

Faunch- How much does it cost?

Good question...probably should have looked at the tag. I'll try to swing by there this week and see.

Driving home today, saw UMHB was starting spring football. Weird knowing Coach Pete wasn't out there.

Side note, remember last year when they were playing games right now? Crazy time that we hopefully never see again but it was fun to see.

Jefferson Fritz showing out at the pro day today:

https://twitter.com/jefffritz10/status/1506787914700705792?t=B23JJ9X2N_oUc-dnJLFn_A&s=09

Jefferson's numbers

Vertical: 40
Broad:10'5
225 rep:26
3-cone:6.9
40: 4.56

I have combed through some average safety numbers at combines/pro days and with these numbers Jefferson more than show that he has the athleticism to be looked at. Will that be enough to get drafted/signed, I hope so.

My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.
