They were doing hypotheticals and naming the games for regional burger places.

I'd rather see the bluebell bowl :D

Ehhh... Etchglow,
Respectfully, we capitalize any reference to Blue Bell.

;D
I wish that they would bring back Tin Roof into the rotation.

I'm going to blame autocorrect :D.  My favorite has to be vanilla bean...
LOL...

Or my daughter's Coca-Cola cake with a scoop of Homemade Vanilla.

The championship can be found on NCAA Youtube page so I don't think you would need to worry about that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9VMjFK2VvA

As for the UWW game, YOU are right to suggest someone might not find them on the TUBE but somewhere else ;)

You know, I knew the championship game was up there for another YT channel but didn't realize the NCAA had an actual YT channel...  That is kind of cool.  Now if they would just overhaul their stats page and introduce a real rest api...

Anyone heard anything about Jefferson Fritz? He get any considerations from any teams?
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Last I saw was a training video of a 45.5" vertical in late July. Looks like he is training over in Kaufman. Hopefully he gets a chance at the xfl. Although, I think the majority of the camp slots at the xfl tryouts are pay to play...

umhb2001

So.....

DCTF placed HSU ahead of UMHB in their preview.

Bulletin board material or Nah?
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

ksclegal

Well I guess you can tell Dave is no longer with us.

ksclegal

Now don't get me wrong it is certainly conceivable that HSU wins that game. The game is at HSU and the teams were extremely competitive in last years game. But to rank HSU over UMHB after the run to the ship is in my opinion a stretch.

Is this in the magazine?  Haven't seen the poll on their website yet (which is annoying since I'm a paid subscriber).  Was there any kind of explanation as to why they think a dominant national champion returning most of its skill positions is suddenly going to be overtaken by a team that hasn't beaten them in years and years?

I just read the American Southwest Conference preview in DC Texas Football written by Corey Hogue.

He offers no explanation as to why he believes HSU will win the conference. He mentions that HSU returns 10 starters on both sides of the ball. He makes no mention of UMHB returners, save Kyle King.

Concerning HSU, Hogue writes:

"The Cowboys... are expected to make their first appearance in the NCAA DIII playoffs since 2018."

"HSU has every reason to believe this is its year to claim its first outright ASC title since 2004 and at least a share of its first ASC crown since 2015."

"HSU's most significant question entering fall camp is who will replace Kyle Jones at quarterback. Junior Gaylon Glynn, sophomore Drew Huff, and Henderson State transfer A.J. Hawkins are the early favorites to win the position."

He (or DC staff) predict HSU to finish first, UMHB second, and HPU third.

I don't know Cory's reasoning for that, but I do know there's a lot of concern about the defense and how many contributors UMHB is losing on that side of the ball. But the thing about the Cru is, they always have players who step up. Fritz leaves big shoes to fill but UMHB has athletes in the secondary for sure. They'll be ready. And the transfers they've brought in on the D-Line will be stellar. I see no reason why HSU is the favorite to win the conference, though I do expect a close game in Abilene

Yeah, but digging through the roster and two deep it looks like we lost 11 players off of the defensive two deep from last year.  But we do have at least 8 players who played defense for at least 4 games to fill in at those positions.  I think biggest positions hit were DT and LB.  Fritz will be hard to replace but Tommy Bowden was looking pretty good back there by the end of the year.

I have great respect for most of what DCTF does on a yearly basis but I must admit they let me down when it comes to covering non FBS Texas college football. Obviously I am very biased but in terms of on field success the non FBS Texas schools have had much more success than their FBS counterparts. In the last handful of years, UMHB, Texas A&M Commerce, and Sam Houston State have won national championships and while that was mentioned it didn't help them get any more real estate in the magazine. Thousands of former Texas high school football players go on to play in Texas at the FBS, D2, D3 and NAIA level but no matter how well they do they seem to get the same very small amount of coverage in the magazine.

With that said, I'll give the magazine credit for at least being bold I did a quick glance at the magazines of the past and they have predicted UMHB to win the conference every year since at least 2010.
