Jake Mullin was that McMurry QB. I remember that UMHB regular season game. The game was postponed for a 54 minute lightning delay in the 2nd quarter. UMHB went up 28-7 and McM came roaring back. UMHB intercepted the 2-pt PAT late in the 4th quarter to win 28-27.

Mullin punted 21 times that year for a 46 yard average. Ten went inside the 20 yd line. Nine went 50+ yards; he had a long of 70 yards plus 2 touchbacks.

Hal Mumme always went for the win!
He went for it on 4th down a lot, too.

McM only punted 44 times in a 12-game, 9-win season.

I have a really good football book for everyone to read.

Pass Perfect by S. C. Gwynne.

There is much information on Mumme, Hal Leach, the Air Raid and football as we have come to know it.

It is fast, pleasureable read. I really like Gwynne's style.

Speaking of ASC historical guys, did anyone else hear that they are making a movie about Mike Flynt the 59 year old guy who played for Sul Ross back in 2007?

Wow that's pretty cool!

I remember Austin College had a  mid 50-60s year old kicker/LB in the mid late 2000s...

Would be cool to have your kids or grandchildren see you play.

Hope I'm in half that shape when I reach those years, to still be able to put on a helmet  ::)

BSCpanthers

BSC is officially enroute to Little Rick for a our matchup with McMurry inside of War Mermorial.  Here's to everyone having a safe trip, no injuries and a Panther victory.   ;D

Be very intrigued to see what kind of crowd they will have, that is a pretty long trip for both teams.

It's considered a McMurry home game, even though it's neutral site.  It was a late add due to LaGrange ending their long standing series with us.  By playing there, it prevented either team from having to fly, so purely a money situation I think.  I expect it to be family and friends and that's about it.  That stadium will look completely empty with maybe 1000 people total in that stadium.

AC had a kicker in his 60s (I believe it was Sul Ross who had the LB). The kicker is still around AC's program as the volunteer kicking coach.

So umhb game notes are up, just glancing at them but it is interesting that Cornelius Merchant transferred to umhb from etbu. I seem to remember him being a pretty good rb for them.

Also kind of interesting that they have Rj Haberer listed as coming in from Howard Payne when he was on the Bethany college roster last year.

Yeah Haberer was never at HPU. Barely had been to Texas before he showed up for fall practice. Just a typo...I'm surprised they haven't changed that yet.

BSCpanthers

BSC takes the win over McMurry 26-9.  McMurry had the better QB play as BSC is breaking in a new, sophomore, QB.  First okay from scrimmage BSC takes a run off tackle to the house, 75 for the TD.  McMurry first drive ends in a punt, snap goes over the punters head and out the end of the end zone.  After that it was a pretty even game.  For BSC to duplicate our success from last season, the offense is going to have to find some rhythm.

On to next week as we take on instate rival Huntingdon at home.

Anyone have issues with the UMHB live Video broadcast not having audio?
