Former CAC Coach

The sound is still not working for UMHB & Muhlenberg....   it is really disappointing, given the high production quality...how does the streamer get notified.????

Can confirm what Kyle King said in his interview with Frank and JB. This offense is scary.

Dropped a 60 burger in 3 quarters on a top 10 program.. could've scored 90.. no disrespect intended but yes the offense might be the best we've had.

Cru offense looked very good tonight. Some amazing grabs by KJ, Jordan, and transfer TE Mcklentoc. All for TDs.

The defense grew through the game and I would guess every player on the sideline played. I'm really excited about our backup kicker as well.

Should be fun next week in Wisconsin.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Does anyone by chance have a link to the Game Notes from the UMHB vs. Muhlenberg game tonight? Thanks!

Sul Ross - new (interim since last November) coach doing interesting things there.  ~130 on the roster compared to ~85 last season, has some slippery RBs and WRs who made some very nice receptions.  What caught my eye the most was the QB situation.  The starter, T.J. DeShields, is from Ohio and played a couple seasons at Akron (spot duty, 7 of 16 in 2020 and 3 of 8 in 2019).  His second season in Alpine.  They have another QB from Walla Walla WA, a third from Golden CO (who is apparently the backup as he came in for one play when DeShields had to go out after his helmet popped off).  There are only 4 or 5 other out-of-state players on the entire roster, 2 from NM which is closer than most of Texas to Alpine.  I don't know how you motivate QBs to come to the middle of nowhere to pay out-of-state tuition to play football but apparently they're having success doing it.

DeShields was under pressure most of the night but he's a big QB for D3 (6'4" 210), hung in there and made some nice completions just before being sacked.

Their roster had a lot of skill players transfer in too. When the TU WRs dropped a few wet balls on the first couple of drives, I thought SR was going to take advantage of it. They showed some flash, and held in there for a while, but TU was a machine.

I would not be surprised to see SR win a few more games this season. Pretty big with size and a lot of talent! Their QB can sling it too.

SR has never had a problem getting talent. Their problem has always been keeping it. You have to be wired a certain way to live in true West Texas for 4 years, and most folks from Houston, Dallas, Austin, or any city for that fact aren't. One of my students from the past 2 years was recruited by SR and ETBU. Loved his recruiting trip to Alpine, but ultimately choses ETBU. Part of that was the remoteness. This is a Sweetwater kid;small town West Texas sports his whole life; summers and winters working cattle for grandpa in North Dakota and Alpine was too remote for him. SRSU has a hard row to hoe to every be consistantly good, but I'm glad to see their making some inroads.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Interesting to see the way that superlatives are awarded.  The Cru team gave the defensive game ball to Tristan Green.  The ASC named Tommy Bowden as Defensive Player of the Week.  And D3 Football announced Johnny Smith-Rider on the weeks all-defense team.  Looks like the Cru are spreading the wealth around.

Tonight's Coaches show was pretty good. Nothing eye popping, but it was interesting to hear what Coach showed the guys this morning: the 2019 defeat against UWW. Nothing like getting punched in the mouth in the playoffs to teach you a lesson.  I hope it works.

Coach pointed out the greatness of the O and hit on the fact that UWW will probably play keep away and "pound the rock" as they say. He also said it could be week 5 before the D looks like the UMHB D we are used to.

The gashes up the middle for Muhlenberg are what scare me against UWW. They always have big, strong lineman and I'm sure that will continue. Our young, athletic LBs need to be ready to fill the gap and lay some wood.

Offensively, I think we are fine. I know UWW will make adjustments to what we did in the semis, but I still believe that we will be just fine.

Does anyone know if the UMHB's broadcast team is going up to Wisconsin to broadcast the Whitewater game? Also, is the pay per view a WIAC thing or just a Whitewater enterprise?

Looking forward to watch two very determined teams show up Saturday loaded for bear! Lets go CRU, one game at a time!
