Hey folks, non-southerner here super excited for the Hardin-Simmons Hardin-Baylor game. Just wanted to double check that the game will be free to stream or will it be behind a paywall? Thanks!

If you have a ROKU or Firestick streaming device (not sure about Apple or Google), the ASC sports app is very good and will probably have the game. UMHB also has their own app and uses their own broadcast crew. I'm not sure about Hardin Simmons. I stream games from out-of-state all the time.

Ron Boerger

I hadn't seen a post from our friend MUC57 in quite a while; sadly, per posts on the OAC board, he passed away earlier this summer.  His last post on the boards came about six weeks before his passing.   Rest in Peace, MUC57.

For years I looked forward to MUC57's posts.  He brightened my days.  The word Gentleman gets thrown around too much, in too many contexts these days, but he was a Gentleman in the classic sense:  considerate, jovial, polite, big hearted.   And MUC''s biggest supporter.  The Purple Raiders gave him great joy.  Rest with the Purple Angels, good man.

RB was 86 years old and passed on Friday July 29, 2022. He last posted on 6-14-22 and was in attendance at the dedication of Kehres stadum. A Mount Alum and great supporter of Mount Union and especially Raider football. He will be truly missed by everyone. His obituary is in The Alliance Review, www.the-review.com.

When George Fox played at Howard Payne, I did not realize the team colors:

George Fox: Navy Blue and Old Gold
Howard Payne: Old Gold and Navy Blue.

HSU will have a free broadcast for the game on hsuathletics.com. Great video quality and play by play is non-biased. Good stuff.

As a UMHB fan I will agree that their broadcast is good and much to happiness of the D3 guru's is archived so you can go back and watch things later.

I meant to add that too...all-around great production by HSU. Interesting fact...HSU was the first D3 school to ever provide live stats on their website. Crazy that now 22 years later, just about every school in the country has live stats.

I have to say HSU and UMHBs broadcast is better than most small D1 schools video coverage! They have great footage and playback. The announcers are pretty well informed too!

Going back to the late 90s HSU and Trinity used to have a lot of post season battles prior to UMHB rising to the top of the mountain. Ironically, two of Trinity's player's Fathers were passionate about the program and had the knowledge and technology to start their own radio then live footage. Now to this day the University's Tiger Network handles it, but Bob Edwards was one of the first pioneers for live webcast. RIP.

Mr. Swint still attends all of the games, these many years later, and helps out up stairs.

Pretty neat to see how much D3, Texas Teams at that, have shaped the culture of live broadcasts to this day.

For a while it seemed like the smaller schools without restrictive TV contracts had it better in some regards that the big guys. My dad who is an Aggie loves that almost every game of most sports is going to be streamed by UMHB or the team they are playing and usually for free. Now it seems like the big schools are finding more ways for non football sports to be televised with ESPN+ and the conference channel but those of course are no where near free.

Showcase your games!  I'm hoping we'll get a game with high rewatchability this weekend!

They're all showcased in live broadcasts.  ;D it just depends on which game the viewership prioritizes to watch.  ::)

I think the schools may not care to keep servers going for all the archives, plus it probably allows playoff teams to go back and watch all the game footage throughout the year, as opposed to just the few games they request to swap film on.

In short it would be another added cost that most programs don't have budgeted for. I agree it stinks we can't go back and rewatch good games, but heck we can't even do that on NFL games without paying a subscription through a provider.

I'm not aware of any different tier of pricing with the major video providers that makes it improbable to show archived games.

It is my understanding that the Stretch Internet streams are still there they're just hidden and require a password to access.

I'm not sure that's functionally different than making them unavailable to the public.

We mentioned this on ATN a couple of weeks ago- St. Thomas was recording games they felt they wanted an archive of on their own.  It's a safe assumption that Glen Caruso wasn't the only cat on the D-III block to be collecting game archives of teams they might need to beat in the playoffs.  The people teams might not want to see their game video probably already have it- hiding the broadcast after the fact only keeps it hidden from people that should be allowed exposure to these great games.
