Put HSU in at least half of the other conferences, they would win them, get to the playoffs, and win a playoff game or two most seasons.  That combined with the voters keeping them in the top ten even after a blowout loss to UMHB says to me they're "elite".   The only way you can say otherwise is if your definition of elite are those few teams who can reliably be Final Four teams most years, and while that is a reasonable distinction, I'm not quite that exclusive.  Top 10ish out of 240 teams is "elite" to me.

It is unfortunate that this year if Trinity win the SAA again and HSU gets in, there is almost no chance they don't face each other in the first round. Unfortunate because Trinity would deserve an easier first round opponent and it would be another year that in order to prove their worth HSU would have to beat a Top 5ish team in the country just to get into the second round.   

In terms of elite vs very good, I would put HSU in the very good tier. A long time ago one of the regular posters put together a few paragraphs about the different tiers of D3 which I have always thought about when looking at the playoffs. Right now is HSU better than 95% of D3, I think so, but there still is another tier above them that they need to crash through in order to get there.

Yes, better than 95% of D3.

However the criteria does not determine the best 5% of D3, but rather whether the the correct boxes were selected and I fear that HSU is 2 boxes shy of having a full D3 slate.

Looks like they're not there. The first game they weren't posted until overnight... Between that and the no more away streams I'm beginning to wonder what is going on up in belton...

Haha, I like it for the record watch so I don't have to go reference the record book, this year's stats and historical stats.

Not the cleanest game for the Cru. Some stupid fouls and some really ticky tack calls hurt quite a bit. King seemed off to start the game as well. Probably didn't help that Jordan was on the sidelines in a boot.

I'm surprised that Sul Ross played Howard Payne as close as they did. It was a 7 point game until the very last minute.

Because I can't sleep and am bored here are a few record updates:

Kyle King passed Blake Jackson for #5 all time in passing yards. He needs 307 to pass Josh Welch's 4914.

King also moved into sole possession of 3rd in passing touchdowns. He needs 6 to catch Zach Anderson at 64.

KJ Miller now sits at 21 receiving touchdowns which puts him at 6 all time behind Brandon Jordan.

KJ is now only 75 yards behind a tie for 3rd place in receiving yard with Jonel Reed and Wykeyhe Walker.

Sloppy game that folks might feel this week. Coach Harmon after the game to the temple daily telegram as quoted in tha paper
What's really concerning me is our maturity. I thought we had way too many chippy penalties last week — unsportsmanlikes, late hits. We did again this week, and that's just competitive maturity.

"We're going to start handling that a little differently. I've been a little too nice about it. I'm going to be a little less understanding this week, and I'll get our kids' attention."

Were they in a news article?  They never showed up on the schedule page until today I guess.
