Does anyone know if HSUs QB is coming back next year? Not sure with all the extra years COVID gave everyone.
Also, has anyone heard the rumor that Sul Ross got the invite to D2s Lone Star Conference?

Sul Ross, McMirry and HPU were in the LSC in the late 1960's early 1970's.

Makes you wonder if the Lone Star would uninvite Central Washington, Western Oregon and Simon Fraser (from CANADA!) as affiliate members if they could snag SRS and potentially a few more ASC members?

I could see them taking interest in a few ASC schools. Since 2016 the LSC has lost 3 programs, OPSU, Tarleton and Commerce. So they are in need of some new members.

D2 is a big commitment with substantial costs, since you're talking about offering some number of scholarships (though many would be partial) across all your sports and not just football.  Some facilities would also probably need upgrades.  I can't see Sul Ross in position to make such a move absent some oil money suddenly flowing into the program - and not sure that D2 athletics would provide the net positive for enrollment (and corresponding financial bump) that D3 athletics generally are seen as adding.

May depend if anything ever happens with A&M absorbing them into one their colleges. Recall some noise a while back where a senator was making a push for that. Maybe it was someone else but I thought it was SRSU. State money is different that private schools.

Can't find a story that updates this story but last year the President of SRS acted like joining the A&M system came out of nowhere.

Sort of looks like the bill is just going to die in committee:  https://capitol.texas.gov/BillLookup/History.aspx?LegSess=87R&Bill=SB522

So yes, warning was given about the band.

Still boggles that if the warning was given in the first quarter why they let it continue that long as well as letting the Howard Payne band play through entire possessions.  Maybe because their band was sad and only had a few people in it?

Agreed, I am almost surprised in the world of college football that warning would be given to the football coach himself. I would think at the end of a quarter or half, the ref would find whatever administrator is at the event and tell them that if it continues then a flag would be thrown. If for no other reason, if most football coaches are forced to take some of their time and talk with the band in the middle of a game it probably isn't going to be a polite conversation haha

Just not applied equally to Howard Payne.

Yes, you keep saying that, but I have no context as I was not able to witness it, and we have no idea if their band was warned.

Bottom line, and I say this as someone who has played in a pep band -- you know the rules. Risk a flag if you like, I suppose.
